On the topic of imports (especially Hondas) in South Korea:

Trying to service a Ridgeline (which is a strictly North American model) in South Korea - good luck. You'll need it. Same story with the Odyssey and the Acura TL, even though a fair number have entered South Korea as second-hand imports.

On the other hand, I did see PLENTY of Accords, Civics, CR-Vs, and Legends. All were sold since, say, sometime 2007. The Korean-spec Civic has a different taillight design, and can NOT possibly be a secondhand US model. The Legend is the same AWD luxury sedan that the US market gets as the Acura RL (which, a long time ago, was indeed the Acura Legend). The Legend also happens to get window decals that detail proper towing instructions (due to the AWD) - and those decals are in Korean. (Meaning: there is an official Honda distributor in South Korea now, and that, since 2007, has been Honda itself.)

Some Hondas have trickled into South Korea well beforehand. Daelim (who used to assemble Honda motorcycles a long time ago) started selling Accords as soon as the import vehicle restriction was lifted in 1987. Those Accords had to be sourced from Ohio, however, as Japanese vehicles remained banned until 1998. Back in the 1990s I certainly spotted 4th Gen Accords in Seoul - they were very rare, however. Other import brands used similar local distributor schemes (for example, Kolon was the importer of BMWs) well into the 1990s, until the import market grew large enough to justify direct subsidiaries.
