  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Afternoon Folks,
I going today to local exhaust shop to complete a muffler delete on my 4.6. Watched the youtube clip of the 5.0 with this mod and sounds pretty bad ass - my wife said she really liked the sound :D - good wife!. there is another video of the 4.6 but only from inside the cabin and I can't really tell what is happening sound wise. The shop is charging me $100 to remove the rear muffler, add straight pipe and weld the original tips back on. I will get some video once it's done. I have no idea if this will be too much inside the cabin or not but for a $100 I'm game for the test. If it's terribly loud, will either reverse it or install Dynomax VT's.

I understand this may be not be everyone's cup of exhaust.

I had this done...it is loud both outside and inside but I love it so much I've had it for about a year now. Every gear gives you a different sound.

Interesting, I'd be very interested to see how it sounds. I'm looking for an inexpensive exhaust solution for our overly quiet rides. I looked up that video and it wasn't bad, but the sound quality wasn't very good either. Pics + a video would be awesome!

It's jaw dropping loud and just loaded with awesomeness. Until you get the ear thumping drone at 70mph. For me, the sound wasn't worth it.

life showed up and I was not able to go down to the exhaust shop

Going to try this week. Promise to get some video and post

quick update! Had the delete performed today. The grunt upon start up is down right awesome!! Has a nice low tone at idle. The drone report...... from a dead stop, the drone is not so great once the rpm's get between 2100 and 2500 upon mild acceleration. You can feel the exhaust in the seats at that point. cruising speed seems is totally fine - very very light rumble. I did some additional testing during my drive to lunch. getting it out of "D" and shifting myself made things so much better. I will hopefully get some video tonight and post some pics. The wife likes the sound on the outside... not sure how that's going to go over on the inside

doing this was a test really, and for $100 worth it. May end up looking at VT's for an actual muffler at some point. will get some video up as soon as I can.

Ok, now I'm really intrigued!! Can't wait to see pics and video when you get a chance.

sorry for now video yet guys.........I have 10 month old twins so time to get all of this done is seriously lacking. I have an update after driving around with the delete for a little while now.

The Good: sounds just mean. start up, idle, wot etc.

The Bad: drone..... as I said before, the drone is between 1700 and 2000 rpm under heavy load. You can deal with this by shifting it yourself and quickly moving past this range. At typical around town cruising, 45mph, pretty much no sound inside the cabin. As soon as you start up hill, the drone kicks in. Cruising on the high way below 70, its not noticeable inside. Once you hit 70mph and above, the drone is there.

more bad: I really have the sense that there is a loss of low end torque. could be in my head but can't shake it. MPG seems worse as well.... I usually average 18mpg.. now at 16mpg. I don't know if this is due to loss of back pressure. The shop I had this done will put on magnaflow muffler's for $225 with original tips. I just don't know if I want to throw good money after bad at this point. May just put the oe mufflers back on and call it a learning experience.

Sad about the whole thing because it sounded so good. I have listened to the video's of the VT's and not really digging the sound.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

I just had straight pipes installed from the cats back. I love the sound! It's pretty
Loud but I love it!

My experience with this was certainly mixed. The sound was pure awesome. I put the oem mufflers back on last weekend. Can't believe the difference in low end torque - so much snappier at lower speeds. Also mpg has returned to normal. Really hurt daily drivability. Hope you have a different experience

I had no problem with the power down low and I think I gained top end power too.
