  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

4.6s in the Northeast, where are they??

Stormy, yes I think I got the first 4.6 under contract here in NJ. Just waiting for it to arrive at the dealership. Hopefully within two weeks.

I just wonder if in a few months everyone will be getting great discounts.

Early adopters always pay a premium to be "the first". That's just how it works. Hopefully, dealers will understand that they do not need to discount these cars to the bone to move them. That hurts everyone, especially those who bought early, by dropping resale values.

Frank,

How long does it usually take from the time a dealer gets a VIN to delivery? Mine just got posted and my dealer says it just shows "at sea". Any ideas?

Do the VINs get posted at original shipping, or later? It seems that the ocean travel time can range from 14 to 31 days.

Thanks!

My 4.6 is on a railroad car being shipped to my dealer, and I was told it would arrive within two weeks.

Plaza Auto Mall in Brooklyn NY has VIN# on Black/Black V8 Tech. Ask for Rasheed at 718-926-8834. Wayne Hyundai has a Biege Metallic V8 Tech. It looks like NY/NJ dealers all got the VINs this morning so I suggest Northeast buyers hit the phones. Of course nobody has a Black/Saddle that I have spoken with...

I was getting my first oil change yesterday, and Grappone Hyundai in Concord NH just received a Titaium/Black V8 no tech package that morning.

I'm just east of Toronto. I personally think I'm the only one on the road in the GTA. When I picked my 3.8 the salesman told me that each dealer only received two cars. One V8 and one V6 each. And the owner of the dealership was using it as his personal ride. Maybe that's the same situation you're facing in NY.

With the lack of inventory, I personally think they are being cautious with their marketing plan as oil was almost double the price 4-6 months ago and with this economy who want to sit on a bunch of unproven V8's.

(Anyone knows how long it takes to ship cars from Korea? Port to Port)

I just picked up my Silver/Black 4.6 with Tech yesterday! Wow! THIS CAR IS AWESOME!!!!!!!! Love it. I like it much better than the V6's I drove.

The dealer told me I was the first person to get a 4.6 in the state of NJ! The truck that delivered them was only bringing them to select dealerships. Mine was the first to be dropped off. The minute I got the call I ran out the door and picked up from a dealership 1-1/2 hours away from me. They were the only dealership I could find in three states that was even getting a shipment. A thank you to Gibb as he gave me the heads up.

I asked the manager why them, versus any other dealership and he said it came down to volume as they are supposedly the highest volume dealer on the east coast. Therefore they get first dibs on the 4.6's. The manager also mentioned that the owner was on some sort of Hyundai board of dealers so he had some pull. They had another black/black w tech coming in that also was already sold.

All of the salesmen and techs were drooling over it and wanted to take a joy ride. My salesman had to fight them off to keep them taking it for a spin. None of them had seen a 4.6 before mine. Everyone at the dealership was coming up to me and congratulating me, I felt like a celebrity.

I feel like I won the lottery. I'm telling you this car is awesome and I just came from a BMW 5 series. No comparison as this car blows away BMW in my opinion.

My summarized driving impressions are that it is defiantly more a luxury car, with sport feel. The features are amazing. I find the DIS more user friendly much better than the Idrive in the BMW. And definitely more responsive. I will admit that the BMW may have a slight edge in the handling area, but the luxury ride of the Genesis trumps any sport edge that the BMW had IMO. The Genesis has a much more more enjoyable ride overall.

With a few minor interior refinements (real wood, sportier dash, etc.) and this car could be selling for $60K in a few years. It's that good.

I'll post more in the driving impressions forum.

I just requested a quote for the V8 w/ Tech Package in Allentown, PA. Lehigh Valley Hyundai kindly informed me that they still haven't received any V8s, don't know for sure when they'll be in but 'expect around Christmas'. I have time to kill, I don't return from Iraq until June but I was looking forward to test driving one this month while on leave. Oh well.

Pacifico hyundai in phila said they will be getting a few sometime in the next few weeks. I went to central jersey to get mine. Global auto.

Congrats on the 4.6 Tech!!! I am very glad that it finally came in and really happy that you love it. Many happy and safe miles.

When I picked my 3.8 the salesman told me that each dealer only received two cars. One V8 and one V6 each.

That's for "regular" dealers. "Premium" dealers (who are usually the ones that carry the Hyundai performance parts) receive more than that. A couple of weeks ago Pathway Hyundai in Ottawa reveiced 6 Genesis (although no V8 w/ tech) when they did "Genesis night". They still get one every once in a while but the ever-elusive V8 w/tech is still nowhere to be found.

They've received 2 or 3 V8s so far, but all base models.

Finally, I got my Titanium/Black V-8 tech today. It's beautiful in person! It was a long wait, since mid-August, but worth the wait. I am a former Cadillac owner. I need to study all the manuals but most is intuitive. So far I love it (4 hours).

My dealer, in the Boston area, said it was the first one to arrive. There was two others on the truck going to others dealers.

Thanks Gipp. It was your heads up that got me the car.

Thanks again.

low and behold a truck arrived at my dealer this am, and it had my car on it. now the painful part. i am away from home for another 2 weeks......

at least it is physically present!!!:D

Glad to hear that your long wait is (almost) over, Zed. Every time I see one of your posts, I'm reminded of how long you've been sitting on the sidelines waiting for your car. I'm sure it's been tough as other owners are yapping about this or that feature, and you're stuck with a well-worn brochure.

Can't wait to hear your first impressions after you get behind the wheel!

Well, I am happy to finally report, after a wait from July 21 to today, my Titanium/Tech 4.6 finally arrived at the dealer!

I go tomorrow morning to pick it up. I really needed the boost, since my well died today at 4:00 PM, so the timing was great when my dealer called at 5:05 PM!

Tomorrow's gonna be a busy day!

Sonata2009,
Congrats, good things come to those who wait!
