  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

In short....

This car is brilliant :)

Those of you who've been on this forum for a while know that I've posted 10k and 20k updates, so read those if you want to hear me sing praises about the Genesis.

40k miles later, no squeaks, no rattles, and not a single issue whatsoever. 28-29mpg highway at 75-80mog cruise. 19-20mpg in the city with a light foot.

Every feature works superbly. Brings me SO much driving enjoyment to drive the car...its soothing, relaxing and entertaining. Sometimes I take the longer way home just to enjoy the car.

Tires are getting ready to be replaced...they may have another 5k-10k in them, but with winter around the corner, I may just go ahead and spring for replacements. Plus, as they've worn down they've gotten more 'greasy' to where a judicious prod of the throttle in the dry will get the back end to slide just a tad! So yep....new tires are coming :)

This is such a brilliant car. I'm and engineer and I'm also an avid enthusiast. I've been lucky enough to own and drive some brilliant vehicles. The Genesis is by far one of the best. Because of this car, many other perfectly admirable vehicles are no longer worthy of my praise simply because Hyundai has raised the bar and rewritten the rulebook. Absolutely brilliant.

I hope you guys enjoy yours as much as I continue to enjoy mine.

P.S. - If I ever sold the Genesis....it would be for another Genesis. Or an Equus :)

Wow, you are a driving machine!
3 questions:
1. What tires are you going to replace the Dunlop's with?
2. How has the driver seat leather bottom held up, there have been some complaints about it stretching out a bit?
3. You own the V6 sedan, I assume?

I was thinking the same thing! You must be one of the first owners to have 40K already. Glad to hear that all is well at 40K. Just gives us something (actually nothing) to look forward to. Car troubles, that is! Keep us posted on the tire choice and whether or not you can tell a difference from the Dunlops. Thanks for the update.

Wow, you ARE a trailblazer! I'm 15K miles behind you but my impressions are the same. As a long-time tech exec, I'm very impressed with HMA's competent engineering and manufacturing execution (and I drove BMWs for many years before I bought the Gen). My only complaints are minor nit-picks that HMA can readily fix (e.g. MPG calculator resetting with every fill, water dripping into the trunk, etc.). Unless HMA's competitors dramatically narrow the "value gap" between Genesis and their offerings, I can't envision replacing this car with anything other than a newer Genesis, or perhaps an Equus.

Wow, I think you're definitely in the running for most miles on a Genesis sedan. I'm probably in the running for lease amount of miles (I purchased mine 6/27/2008 and have just over 12k miles).

FWIW, I echo many of your sentiments. Nearly 18 months into ownership and I still love my Genesis as much as I did the first month. My only real complaints are an intermittent rattle in the headliner and stretched out looking drivers seat leather. Nearly everything else has either met or exceeded my expectations.

With that said, I am the type to get easily bored with cars and usually get rid of them every 3 years or so. I've also never purchased the same car twice, but I have considered it with the Genesis (it's just such a great value). As much as I love my Gen, I'd like a vehicle that can more easily carry bulky cargo items and my 2 dogs. I am thinking of going back to a CUV of some sort. As ugly as Acura's new grille is, the early reviews on the Acura ZDX sound very promising, so that is what I'm leaning towards at the moment as replacement for the Genesis (when the time comes).

I also just noticed a rattle in my headliner but then found that it was the sunroof blind/cover that was making the noise when pulled back. No stretched leather @ 26+k.

Like 'vishnus11' I think this is a fantastic car period. For the money it is truly amazing.
