  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

450 hp out of a 2.0L?

There is no reason mechanically that a boosted small engine can't equal the output of a larger one, it just must be designed from the start as a supercharged engine. The electric turbo isn't new. Delphi built and tested one that was supposed to work both ways. In an acceleration mode it was spun up to provide boost at low rpm. IN a constant speed mode it was supposed to drive the permanent magnet motor as an alternator, performing as a hybrid turbo-compound system. It was deemed too complicated at the time, but when you consider all the gas-electric hybrids out there i would think its time has come.

2.0L custom honda engines have been producing 800hp and more on E85 gas for years.

Doing it reliably for 100k+ miles is the issue.

I was just reading about a Hyundai Genesis Coupe that was getting 800HP AT THE REAR WHEELS from a 2 liter 4-pumper. The story may still be on yahoo.com.

I think Volvo is on to something, Im glade the company survived. I believe they were actually dead for a while. Always known for their safety features. Older models have been known to be very expensive to repair, The body construction were like vaults. Hope they make it.

We have really enjoyed my wife's 2012 XC60 T6 that has about 65K miles on it so far. Its been trouble free and a real joy to drive. We know it will get expensive to repair as it gets into triple digits, but what tech-laden care now days isn't? She loves this car and has INSTRUCTED me that I need to help keep it running as long as I am still breathing.

I also hope Volvo will thrive, and it looks like its chances are excellent. :)
