  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

went to the 1/4 mile strip for giggles. raced a Genesis coupe, no idea the powerplant in it.

I ran my best time of 13.682 @ 104mph. this was my first run, not bad. the rest of the runs I was fiddling with my shift points and overthinking it too much and was running 13.9s

with the right driver and weather, i'm guessing this car can be a 13.3-13.5 second car.

with the other guys reaction time, you'd swear I bet the devil.

here is my 1/8 mile run before I went to the 1/4 mile track weeks later. I only got one run in because of cars breaking on the track over and over. I ran a 9.388 and whooped up on that modified lightning. obviously I could have done better. my wife didn't record my 1/4 mile run. womp womp.

I can't get it to embed.....here is the link. whatever....pos.

Not bad at all. Shows this car is capable of 5.2 second 0-60 times. The 104 mph is rather impressive for this hunk of a car.

Are these results in stock form? No air cleaner or exhaust changes? Hard to tell but it looks like Empire Gray so yours is the exact same as mine. :)

I watched this video a few weeks ago and wondered if it possibly was a forum member. Not too shabby a pass.

Nice job!

Let's see if I can embed the vid...

EDIT - Nope, can't make it work for some reason.

Modified Lightning owner obviously didn't spend his money on drag radials or traction bars.
Congrats nonetheless.

That's a good time. Perfect conditions could turn 5.0 and maybe get a little under. Audi A7 timed by C&D at about 4.3, has AWD and weighs 300# less, rated at about the same HP.

I wonder what the AWD Genesis in Canada would run? Any Canadians give it a try?

100lbs=0.1 second.

Try running in sport mode with mirrors closed, auto hold active and tc on and mash the throttle and let that v8 sing.

^^^^
This.

OP, just to confirm, you utilized the paddle shifters during your passes?
Auto hold on or off?
TC on or off?

traction control all the way off (hold button for 3 seconds) although its not really needed as it never once wheel slipped. rear tires are way too wide to loose grip.

paddle shifted on the 1/8 mile run and shifted late on one shift....car shifted for me.

stick shifted (not paddle) on the 1/4 mile at about 5500-6000, by the time the car shifted the revs were higher. so I noticed I had to shift BEFORE the rpm I wanted to actually shift at. delay/laggy trans.

car was in SPORT mode on both tracks. mirrors open or closed probably wont make a hill of beans on this car...already pretty aero efficient with them open.

no auto hold as when you push the gas with auto hold on...it will turn it off. I wanted to load the motor up some first...so I held the brake and push the gas up a bit...then let off the brake and floored it. it just launched like a fool.

car is completely, 100% stock, even had the child seat still in the back. gas was 1/2 tank maybe on 1/8 mile. 1/4 mile was 1/4 tank gas. I did absolutely nothing to the car. I just was curious what the times were. I wont be taking it back. my curiosity is satisfied.

if I could have gone again on the 1/8 mile track it would have been under 9 i'm sure of it and my 1/4 mile time proved it.

I suspect you may have your best pass with Sport mode enabled, t/c off, transmission in D, 3/4 throttle off the line and then floor it. No using the paddle shifters/stick shifting.

Agreed. I have a 2012 V6, but during my timed acceleration tests I got better times easing onto the gas from a stop and keeping it in D. The 8-speeds, at least in its 12-14 guise, tends to bog down for a moment when given the beans from a dead stop.
