  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone, I just bought a genesis 5.0 r-spec. I want to put a axle back exhaust on it. Any recommendations?

Magnaflow has a cat-back system for the R-Spec Genesis, for around $1000, I can get my hands on the last 8 in the country if you are interested. I have heard they release a good, deep tone and can change the experience of the car as well.

I'd suggest finding a local custom exhaust shop who can just swap out the mufflers. Far cheaper than a pre-built system and just as effective. Plus you have a lot more muffler options. And if you keep the stock resonator, far less likely to have drone. Or at least minimal.

I had an exhaust shop weld up an exhaust for me and it was way cheaper than buying an off the shelf set up for my 4.6. Plus it's perfect for what I wanted, audible but quiet around town and somewhat loud when I stomp on it. Hooker Maxflow mufflers, Vibrant 12 inch resonators with dual 3.5 inch tips. I just wish we had some sort of aftermarket header option.

Dumb question, if they (the shop) CUT then WELD the mufflers only, will it throw a check engine code? I have the Gen1 v6 (3.8). I went to a shop and the guy did not want to touch it. He told me to get a KIT (system) and he would install it. SIGH.

Let me know if you are interested in a bolt on system, I carry the Magnaflow system available for the Sedans.

Magnaflow drones bad at low rpms. Trust me I had the catback and it was awful. Ended up selling it years ago.

Already been answered but no it will not cause a CEL. Only if you remove the primary catalytic converters will it cause a light. Everything from the secondary cats to the tailpipe is not monitored.
