  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

5.0 R-Spec: Why so rare?

My 2014 R Spec sedan has a heated steering wheel.
The one feature my fully optioned out 2015 5.0 ultimate does not have. However, since I can not drive my 2015 in freezing weather due to having performance summer tires I really do not need a heated steering wheel.

I still feel cheated.

I looked up my window sticker with the VIN and it shows the heated steering wheel as being standard but it was bought new in North Carolina. I don't think they would ship multiple versions to the U.S., it may have been leftover parts from the '12 that needed to be used since they were changing bodies.
I think that heated steering wheel function may apply only to the 2014 model. I may have to upgrade to a 14 I checked my 13 at home didn't find it but I have another 13 and a half production date 4/2013 that carries alot of the 2014s attributes at my uncle house am check on that one on Monday it may have it. I will keep you posted

Yeah, you'd think that newer body style would have any option the older ones have.

Cool, maybe that one has it. Just for reference in case it helps anyone to narrow down when the heated steering wheel was added my build date is Oct/14/13.

I took a screenshot from a zoomed out PDF so the quality isn't the greatest if you zoom in a lot.

A lot of car for the money even when new. Hyundai hit a home run with the Genesis and now G80.

Hyundai luxury cars has come a long since the first luxury attempt called the XG350(actually XG300), but the latter XG350 was nicer. I actually did like that car when it first came out.

It was rare to see those where I live but when you did they were all ragged out, I haven't seen one in several years though.

I've got a heated steering wheel on my '13 R spec. I thought they all came with it as part of the R spec package.

It may just depend on where it was bought new, if mine had come from a more southern state it may not have had it. It's just weird it was listed as being standard but some don't have it.

True enough. It is a Canadian car so it does come in handy.... Can't see a Florida car needing it as much.

Anyone know if the wood wheel came heated?
I replaced my leather wheel with wood but would love a heated wood one.
Heated Steering Function switch is on the lower Steering Column shroud not on the actual wheel itself So you maybe thinking about unpracticable modifications

The Rspec is just a great car , another fellow member with a 12 Rspec that I know has over 130k all original .
It's hidden in the arm rest just plugs in and is wireless .
I just seen a 2013 5.0 R Spec yesterday with 326000 miles running around like a champ No issues Owner claims he followed all maintainance logs through

I saw a few XG350 on the road when they were new and they looked OK at the time especially the few with aftermarket wheels. I actually saw a XG350 on the road recently and it seem to be driving fine with no smoking or loud noises that I could tell. The body work looked good as well.

Hyundai has came a long way.

I actually desired the 2014 R-spec for a while and would have one of those if I did not find my current 2015 5.0 Ultimate. I like the exterior styling of the 2014 R-spec and the unique LED light strip on the headlights.

While I'm extremely impressed with the car stock it's sad to know the potential of these cars will never see the light of day. I know hyundai/genesis never intended on selling the cars to anybody that cares about performance but the electronic and mechanical limitations are just too much. After this one wears out or I get bored with it I'll move on to something with some aftermarket. Honestly I didn't bother to research the car's aftermarket before I bought it, I just assumed a RWD 429 HP V8 car would be covered.

You may have a point there Steve Frankly Speaking I believe these R Specs were never crafted for modifications at least heavy ones Personally I am okay with that My 2013 R Spec V8 Sedan serves my purpose and passion at the moment for sure For example unlike some I will never ever change my factory rims and tire size for aftermarket rims or tire size Reason: Factory was crafted, engineered, calculated and mathematically calibrated to give me the most performance out of my R Spec quite a contrast with the aftermarket product besides the appealing looks of that aftermarket

XG350 days are a faded distant and not too much of a pleasant memory now but I think during that era is when Hyundai decided to put their foot down and invest heavily in the future spending billions
