  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

5.0 tuning solution!

AlphaSpeed, a Puerto Rico-based tuner, who has provided OEM ECU tunes and Haltech tunes to the Genesis Coupe community for the past couple of years, now has the ability to read and write to the 5.0 ECU!

AlphaSpeed is credited with tuning some of the fastest Genesis Coupes in the world, including a 10-second Genesis Coupe.

He will need an ECU to read so he can start working on canned tunes. Any 5.0s in PR?

Nolman at AlphaSpeed can be reached through his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AlphaSpeedPR/

That is great news, hopefully we can get an ECU to him so we can finally get a tune for this car.

I would be Willing to take a Chance, and send my ECU, I've been Waiting YEARS for a tune on the 5.0...I have a Low mile 2013 Equus Ultimate...

Interesting news.

Yes, interesting and good news... How much does a new ECU cost? Worst case scenario and something goes wrong - it would be good to know that...

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs

Slight clarification/possible downer.

The module states 5.0 with MT86 ECU, however all the 5.0 ECUs I see for sale on Ebay and the like, are labeled as ME17.9.1 ECUs (Same as the 4.6 and non-turbo Veloster 1.6 and a few others).

So if I could get all 5.0 owners to snap a picture of the label on their ECU so we can determine what model year uses the MT86 ECU.

I am happy to take a picture and post it. Can you clarify where the ECU is for all of us.

Thank you

Thank you

On the BH it is in the driver's rear quarter of the engine compartment (By the wiper cowl). On the DH, I do not have a diagram, but labor time is the same, so I imagine it is in the same location.

I'll Also take a Picture and Send it, btw, what the Heck is the 'BH' and 'DH'??? Thank You!

BH is the first generation and DH is the second. I could be wrong, just what I knew from the top of my head.

so a 2013 5.0 (Equus) is a DH???

No, technically BH/DH are specific to Genesis models. HOWEVER, the Equus is based off the Genesis platform, therefore from a platform perspective, the Equus is closer to the BH than the DH. The G90 would be the one closest to the DH.

Ok, All I know is that My 3900lb Equus Ultimate does the 1/4 mile in 13.85@102 Best, and I think a Good tune would knock off a few more tenths...lol...

A tiny correction, The 2013 Equues Ultimate 5.0 weighs at 4524lb.

BTR still have my loaner ECU and I can see if I can get it back.
After more than a year, I have very much given up on the idea that it can be done even though they managed to crack the 4.6.

I also have some great news about a possible tuning solution. Seoulful Racing in PA is also famous for cracking and tuning everything Hyundai pretty much. Spoke to them on YouTube of all places. They said they'd love to have someone let them use their Vehicle to make canned tunes as well. Just so we can get multiple tuning options for the platform. 84Fordman aren't you getting a supercharger made for the TAU 4.6/5.0 engine? Not trying to steal anyones thunder here, but Seoulful Racing is very known for tuning Hyundai's never heard of the other shop you mentioned. But, I will check them out as well. Curious to see how much a canned tuned with exhaust, and an intake will net us in HP. Below is the video I talked to them about tuning our Genesis Sedan's with the TAU 4.6/5.0 powerplants. They're located in PA, anyone live there? Their addy is (319 west town road suite M West Chester, PA. 19382). They will work with us to make a tuning solution happen if someone is close enough to volunteer their ride for a few hours.

I'm in PA and we've gone down this road before.
They don't understand the complexity of cracking the ECU.
They just assume it's just like any other Hyundai ECU.
