  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can't wait to see what H-trac does in the snow with 4 Blizzaks all around. Supposed to get about 6" Sunday night to Monday.

Even with a vehicle that is excellent in the snow, the problem usually isn't you - it's the other drivers. As nice is the snow is, I find it less appealing when facing the onslaught of drivers who should not be out in snow - nice cars also seem to be a magnet for these idiots who do not adjust speed or tires when forging into the cold.

Couldn't agree more.

In time, I'll see how mine does with Blizzaks/RWD.

My previous 4.6 and Rspec did quite well with RWD IF you know how to drive in snow that is. The stock alll season Dunlops on the gen 1 were disastrous in the snow. I had 4 Continental winter extremes on mine at the time.

I've driven a cruiser in the winter time for the past 15 years. I'm used to RWD driving in the winter.

Nah, some of us have decided to live in a place where we don't have to worry about that crap anymore (former Toronto resident). I've (hopefully) spent the last day in my life freezing my ass off at the end of the day waiting 15 minutes for my car to warm up at the Park 'N Ride station for the drive home. You can keep it.

It's amazing how we differ so much. Personally if I am in the south in winter and hear about a snow storm back home I actually get pissed off about missing it, really. As a kid and even now but not as much, I need to go out and drive in every storm there is. Something just soothing and mesmerizing about it.

I have a place in Florida, actually been going down there since I was 18. Love it but cannot figure how people can have the same scenery day in and day out and would never move there permanently for that reason. The freaking grass blades have not even changed in 35 years. I rarely go down between December and May simply because I would hate to miss the awesome snowmobiling we have and enjoy so much. Heck, why do you think I named this thread "White Gold"

This is my idea of a perfect winter, lots of snow, not too cold and snowmobile trails (all 32,000km of them) like this. Photo taken last year by me. :D

Here is what I assume you think of winter and snow. :D

Wow Midnightsun... Love the picture. Brings back memories of growing up in Upstate New York. I do miss the snowmobiling and snow skiing for sure. It has been 31 years since I strapped on a pair of skis. Probably would break a leg at my age :D We use to have a Cheetah Artic Cat. They probably don't even make them anymore. What kind of snowmobile do you have Midnightsun?

I love skiing also but not as flexible as I once was. Was in the Canadian Ski Patrol for 9 years straight and raced quite bit during my high school years.

Snowmobile is an Arctic cat 2012 TZ1 Turbo Touring. Cadillac of snowmobiles when it comes to touring and boasting a mere 177hp, turbo charged and intercooled. :D Things have changed quite a bit over the years, 4 strokes, no noise or smell or oil and even have heated seats in todays models however they do set you back the price of a good brand new small car.

The Genesis don't stand a hope in hell against my Kitty Cat. ;)

Wow - that's one clean garage. Very nice!!!

That's a nice looking sled Midnightsun. They didn't make them that comfortable looking back in the 70's :D. Have you ever driven a Raider. It has two tracks like a tank. Fun to drive as you sit into a cockpit like a race car. They were fast back then compared to our Artic Cat. I could tell you some stories of our snowmobile escapades :D

Nope but they always intrigued me. Dad had a 1970 Bombardier Nordic 399cc back then. Drove the crap out of that one. :D

I actually think snow is pretty cool; it's the cold I hate with a passion. Some people feel that way about heat; I totally get it. Summers in Texas you're definitely waiting a few minutes for the AC to cool off the car if you park in the sun all day. That is definitely preferable to me than cold. Until I tore my labrum two years ago, I would intentionally wait until the hottest time of the day to run.

Midnightsun - right there with you. Vermont born but parents are from Quebec (Mom passed - Dad lives in Sherbrooke; mom's family in and around Montreal/St Sauveur). I grew up in VA and now live in Atlanta. I love the south for year round fun but I absolutely miss snow (spent 6 years outside NYC - some great storms during that period). We are heading to Sherbrooke/Montreal and then down to Vermont over Thanksgiving. Hopefully there will be a little snow!
