8 Button Keyfob on 2021 G70

Hi all,

I recently purchased a 2021 G70 and do not like using the connected services app to remote start. The car came with one 4-button keyfob. I have seen listings for the new 8-button keyfobs that claim the fob works with 2021-22 G70s. I have a feeling that these listings are wrong. Has anyone tried pairing an 8 button keyfob to their '21 (pre facelift) G70?

The 8-button key fob is news to me but would like to hear more. I have the MyKey Premium remote start installed which uses the OEM key fob. Couldn’t be happier with the MyKey Premium remote start capability and other door locking features. Why Genesis didn’t install remote start via key fob to begin with is beyond me….

Hey G, do you live in a warm climate? In MN, mykey doesn't start at about 0 or colder. If I dink around and try a couple more times, then it might finally turn over enough to start. By that time, I just go out and start it. Sometimes my 4 way flashers stay on for a couple miles..mykey says the super cold issue is common??

Oh, and I've not heard or seen anything about an 8 button remote. I have a 2019 3.3t Sport.

Are you talking about this smart key?

That's from a 2023. It's unlikely that your 2021 would program to that key. It's certain that it wouldn't add the features of remote parking and remote start from the smart key to your car. It just doesn't work that way.

Gonna guess that fob is also for a G80 or GV70 as they offer the self parking stuff that you can control from outside of the car.

I wish it was an option for the G70.

I have to agree with G-470762, I installed the MyKey Premium (about $300 with coupon), myself in 20 minutes, and it uses the factory remotes and adds feature like perimeter lock/unlock and delayed off for cool down. I have the Genesis Connected Services, but use the Key Fob more now. Likely is cheaper than that 8 button keyfob too!
