  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just got back from a road trip downtown and noticed a damn rock chip on the hood. Here is hoping my local dealer has a paint pen in stock and it works. Any one have good success with the OEM paint pens, this chip is deep all the way through the clear coat and paint.

I feel your pain.

I'm 600 miles in and have two chips (right next to each other right next to the front grill) - both are deep thru the paint, though don't show too much on the black.

I have a scratch on the left passenger door (like a zipper scratch), not too deep though.

And... if that wasn't enough, I have a chip on one of my wheels (on the black portion)

:(

I'm also very interested in the pens... and don't want to buy from the dealer.

That really sucks. I'm sorry that happened so soon to you guys. I have a couple of small ones after 12k miles. I think that the custom colgan bra that I had made has helped. Wheel scrapes suck too. Don't know where they came from cuz i didnt hit any curbs.

I have a chip very similar to this one, but fortunately I have 3M Ventureshield film installed, so the paint wasn't damaged. Unfortunately, however, the damage to the film itself can't be repaired, so the chip is just as visible as yours. The only fix is to replace the film, which is a lot cheaper than repainting but a lot more expensive than touching up with a pen. And the ding in the film can't be fixed with a pen either.

Well I ordered at Langka repair kit I have used before and just got off the phone with the parts department at the dealer. They have my paint code in stock for $10 for the touch up paint.

I will now have my project for next weekend when I get back from traveling for work. I will report how successful I am.
