  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I noticed today when driving home that the A/C was blowing cool air but not very cold. 2015 AWD Ultimate.

I'll be looking into a recharge this weekend if necessary. Cabin air filter is brand new and closed correctly.

Any clue on what could be happening here?

Edit: My original post stated that it looked like a "fan" between the existing fan and the radiator wasn't working. I realize now that the second "fan" at the front is in fact not a fan at all and feel pretty stupid. It's just a fixed frame or something with who knows what purpose.

I assume you are still under warranty, so take it in to a dealer.

If your cold engine still shows the coolant level a L in the reservoir, you can safely add just distilled water instead of half coolant and half distilled water. Adding that little water will not change the mixture enough for someone in AL to make any difference at all.

Got home, popped the hood and checked the bay and it seemed like only the radiator fan closest to the engine was coming on.

I did notice the coolant level was at the L, which I will be refilling tomorrow although I did not think this would result in the 1 fan not coming on.

if you were moving at a decent speed the fan is not needed for cooling the radiator. The coolant leven being slightly low would not be a problem either.

You may be low on refrigerant. That can happen after a couple of years and would prevent maximum cooling. You may have inadvertently turned up the temperature on the climate control. Yet another possibility is a damper is not closing properly and is allowing warm air to blend in.

I will confirm, but, I believe A/C is covered only under 1 year even for a New Vehicle and nothing A/C related is included in CPO. I'll wait for it to cool down and check the coolant level again.

Car was stopped in the driveway. I'll check the service history and see if there is anything noted with A/C maintenance. Any clue though on what that 1st fan might be for or when it comes on?

I'll do a pressure check this weekend, and refrigerant fill if necessary. If that doesn't work I'll look into the blend actuator.

The only part of the A/C warranty that is limited to 1 year is "Air conditioner refrigerant charge." Any other A/C problem is covered under the 5 year - 60K mile new car warranty. You didn't say whether you were still under that warranty.

Ah apologies. I see what you mean, the recharge was a caveat stating that it specifically was covered for only a year. Thank you for the correction.

Just bought the car as CPO which I now understand retains the rest of the 5 Year-Limited warranty so I believe it is still covered. Nevertheless, I always like to try and learn how these issues arise for that future event when it isn't covered.

The new car warranty is 5 years or 60K miles, whichever comes first. It is fully transferable, even for cars not sold as a CPO. The CPO restores the 10 year - 100K mile powertrain warranty that is not normally transferable beyond the original owner. This does not include any extended warranties that may have been purchased.

If the problem is the A/C refrigerant charge, then obviously it is not covered any longer, but make sure you don't do anything that messes up the warranty you still have, because Hyundai dealers are usually very picky about that sort of thing if someone else has obviously worked on it.

Should you get the dealer involved for any reason, don't let them tell you it is OK. The Genesis has the best AC of any car I've ever owned.

Still having the issue. Taking it in on Wednesday to get it checked out.

A/C compressor clutch doesn't disengage when turning the A/C off and low side piping isn't cool to the touch or condensing any water on the outside.
