If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. So, I've had my 2011 Genesis (V8) for going on 7 years and it has been problem free until today......

The problem is the A/C on Passenger Side is blowing cool air and the Heat is Blowing on Drivers Side. I was trying to cool down the car so I set the A/C to 65 degrees and it was working beautifully on the passenger side, but blowing very hot air on me.

I then went out and tried the Heater and it blew hot air on the passenger side and cold air on the drivers side.

So with a google search I came across a few Hyundais with the same problem... The cause of them was a Blend Motor Actuator --- Or something like that. I saw this on Sante Fe, Sonata but no Genesis.

Wondering if anyone here had this problem and can shed some more light on it for me???

OK, no replies, so I took i to the Stealership and the problem was the Drivers side Temperature control actuator (Which is basically what I said in the Original Post).
$100 part at the dealer. $422 and out the door after about $300 in Labor.

You may have been able to turn the auto and zones off to get ac to all vents. Not sure but may be a way for some to get by until repair is made.

Tried that first....... It doesn't work that way.

I had the opposite problem this past winter. No heat on the driver's side...turned out to be some kind of actuator they replaced. Warranty covered mine

That was the same exact problem as mine... Re-read my post.

I see sorry. Part # 97160-3M500 (Actuator Assy - Con) is what they listed on my invoice. Two of these parts were used since two vents were involved @ $70 each. Labor was $178 so the whole fix was $354. Again, the warranty covered mine. My defrost was not working well too but everything was corrected with this type of work. Hope this helps you.

Had that same issue on my 2010. Bought the part online for like 70 bucks and took me 30 min to replace.

This sort of thing is common with older cars nowadays.

There are several "motor actuators" behind the dash which are certain to fail eventually, because the actual driver components that do the work are made of plastic.

And, of course, any behind the dash work is labor intensive.

I had two of them fail on a Ford Taurus and another one failed this winter on my Sonata.

Posts #1 & #2 above tell you what you need to know. Good luck!

Has anyone fixed this problem themselves? I have the same problem as Dawg (no heat on driver's side), but the part number quoted (97160-3M500) is for a temp control actuator RIGHT. The left side part number is 97160-3M000, and it would make more sense to me that the driver's side would be considered "left" for a left-hand drive vehicle.

Also, if you have replaced it yourself, how difficult was it? I have the necessary manual but it's always hard to judge the difficulty until you get in there.

Mine Genesis 2015 has the same problem, passenger side AC cools at the beginning but then blow normal temp air. Definitely need to replace control.
I found by turning the right temp to HIGH and then turn back a little lower than driver side, the passenger side will cool too. This was done many times and it works, but better to replace it.

Sorry to bring up old post. Did you find out which side is the drivers side? left or right?

I have this issue with the rear AC blowing hot air. Is it the same part required?

Sorry for your issue. Actually the repair costs aren't as bad as some. Years ago I had a 2001 Chrysler LHS and while going down to Florida we experienced an AC issue where no matter the temperature you set, there was no cool air. Compressor was fine, refrigerant good, etc. Well, after two trips to Chrysler and nearly $2500 later, it still happened again.
Solution? It was a digital setting control and you would hold the button down to lowest temp (60 I think) and then go all the way up to max temp (80 maybe), and back down again. Doing this would force the blender door to move, and after all was said and done, it was just sticking.
Not sure if that would help with your split system or not.

Do you know which actuator part? I am looking at a OEM Hyundai parts site and there are several Actuator parts. Is the 97160-3M500 part the most likely needed?

No, but the parts guy at your dealer can tell you.
