  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A few questions about the base 7 speaker system

I just recently bought a 2012 Genesis 3.8 sedan with the base 7 speaker stereo. It sounds damn good compared to every other car I've driven, but I'd like to make it sound better. I've searched the forum but haven't really had any luck so here's my questions:

What size are the OEM speakers, and what size speakers can they be replaced with? What size is the OEM "subwoofer" that's on the rear deck? Where can I find a wiring diagram of the factory amp so I know which wires to tap into when I add my own amp and subwoofer?

I can't speak to the normal speakers, but I did add an aftermarket sub and amp to my 2012 base model V6. I got a 12v triggered LOC and tapped the wires from the rear speakers where they connected the stock amp, which is located in the trunk in the compartment to the right of the battery. I had never done anything like this before and didn't have too much trouble.

As far as wiring, I used the diagram at https://www.hyundaitechinfo.com/.

Unfortunately, this site is now requires a subscription whereas it was free when I used it. There are other threads concerning your question on the forum. Try searching for them and see if they can help you out a bit.

I attached a list of the parts I used. The 12v remote trigger LOC was the big life saver. I didn't have to tap the head unit by using it.

Bump. Anyone at all have a wiring diagram? I haven't had a chance to look at the amp myself but are pos/neg clearly marked? Is it marked which speaker is which when connected to the amp?

Ok, I am a bit desperate here. I unplugged the large connector and nothing worked (radio came on but no sound) then i plugged it back in and unplugged the small connector and only the subwoofer was active. So obviously, all the other speakers are wired into the small harness. Now I have two questions. Should I tap into the subwoofer wires with my LOC or tap into the rear speakers like most other vehicles? Second question is, which wires are the subwoofer and/or the rear speakers?

Okay, after some major searching this forum and reading a 19 page thread, I FINALLY found the answer. I will post again once I've got everything hooked up tomorrow hopefully. :)
