If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. A Questions about OTA updates

Just be patient, I have a 24, nothing happening yet.

22 and nothing for me yet either

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
2025 GV80 Coupe, just received the OTA update today. Looks like the update came when the car was off. After I had driven about 10 min it asked if I wanted to install it. That took about a minute (maybe less). After the installation, told me to pull over and restart the car. After that wireless CarPlay became available has was been working perfectly. Very cool!

My 22 GV80 3.5 Prestige recently received an OTA update for wireless CarPlay. The update went smoothly, but I’ve started noticing that the speed limit indicator on the cluster and HUD has disappeared. It only shows up briefly when the car detects a speed limit sign and then disappears after a few minutes. Are you experiencing the same

Not sure if there is a differential but I never do OTA updates - USB only. The amount of time it takes to pull said amount of data OTA, plus it has to store at least the initial startup files onboard; not to mention that it also has to run it's main OS routines simultaneously - just seems like a open door for something to botch.

Even using USB, it takes about 30-45min to install; but I've never had any issues with this method on any of my vehicles. I'm waiting for the day when an OEM does infotainment updates via OTA only.

My 2021 GV80 (a 2.5T Prestige model) got the AA/CP and map update OTA as I was driving home from a restaurant this afternoon. Ironically, I had downloaded it to a USB drive two days ago but hadn't installed it yet because I was never at a point where I could leave the car powered ON unattended. Today I had planned to update via USB when I got home from dinner! Since it started the OTA process I figured I'd let it update that way. It did say it was downloading data and that it would pause when I shut the car off... and would auto-resume downloading the next time the engine was running. I parked in the garage, left the engine idling in Park, and kept the garage door open just a few inches for ventilation. The download churned away uninterrupted though there was no progress bar or other indication of how much longer it needed. I have the SETUP -> Vehicle -> Convenience -> Vehicle Auto Shut-off timer set to 30 minutes though OFF is an option that would be useful during long OTA updates. When set to 30 or 60 minutes, as soon as you open a door with the transmission in Park (engine running/idling or OFF), the timer starts counting down. To keep the OTA going, I went out to the vehicle every 20-25 minutes and hit the brake pedal to restart the timer. After the second trip I "got smart" and ran the window all the way down, got out of the car and closed the door, and used a long stick to push the brake pedal through the window. Now the car thought I was inside it so the timer never engaged. If I had been even smarter I would have remembered the SETUP option to disable the timer completely... Oh well. Next time.

The OTA took a little over 2 hours to download... so a little more than 2 or 3 times as long as others have reported for installing using USB sticks. Not bad really. Once complete, the infotainment screen displayed a message that it was ready to install... and that it would need about 10 minutes and during that 10 minutes nothing on the infotainment screen and the driving aids/warnings/alert functions would be unavailable. It suggested I start the update next time I parked the car; it would then finish on its own and shut down the engine when complete. I told it to start the installation immediately since the car was already in my garage. A bar graph popped up showing 80% complete (where was that during the data download?!?!) which jumped in fits and spurts to 100% while the white skeleton fingers danced above it. After sitting at 100% for a minute, the screen went dark as the system rebooted. The normal startup screens appeared and everything seemed to be basically ready/functioning. I spent some time wandering through the menus to see what was new and to verify my settings were intact. Oh yeah - there's an OFF option for the Vehicle Auto Shut-off timer that I'd totally forgotten about! Other than the AA/CP stuff I didn't see anything obviously new.

I haven't driven it yet to see if anything got screwed up - other threads noted the speed limit indicators in the center instrument panel display disappeared... or that the HUD was messed up. My car doesn't have the HUD option so I don't have to worry about those issues. A few more street names seemed to be on the Nav display when zoomed in (700 ft) for the streets close by; further away though not many street names were displayed. Major street names were displayed though; I think this did change/improve as a result of the update. I'll update this post after I've driven a bit to really see what else did/did not change.

Oh, no comments on AA/CP... my phone is too old for AA! Now that I have a vehicle that can easily take advantage of AA I'll consider getting a newer phone. If I can find one that isn't as large as a skateboard...

edit: for those wondering about the "OTA Available" note in the SETUP -> General -> SW Info/Update menus: my post-installation "OTA Available" went from simply saying "OTA Available" to "OTA Available (~5-20-2027)" after the update installed. The next update is almost 3 years away?!? So I still don't know if "OTA Available" actually means an update exists on Genesis' servers somewhere but it hasn't been sent to my car yet or that my vehicle is simply OTA capable. I'll monitor this menu option to see if that far-away date changes.

Mike, make sure you got the Full Map Set update OTA. The OTA update I got was for the Wireless and some Navigation features, not the updates for the new map set that is on the web site. I have a 21 as well and I never have gotten the new Map updates OTA, I have only gotten some software updates OTA.
Worth checking.

Thanks for the ATA Available info. I still have not looked at mine since I upgraded.

Mike, I just checked my OTA Available and it has changed to OTA Available 1-15-25 which is when my 3 year subscription runs out.

I can confirm the full map update is also done through OTA. I just got mine done. When the download in the background is complete, a menu pop up and ask you the press a "start" button. It started at 80 % and took less than 10 min to finish. Everything was working after the update. The map shows more street names, especially when you slow down the the map zooms in. A new feature I noticed is the traffic lights at intersections, just like Google map.

All is working well.

Jhon - I took a look at the "Map Version" listed in the Setup -> General Settings -> WS Info/Update pages. My "Map Version" is shown as NAM.17.43.46.012.913.0 which matches the version number listed in the update.genesis.com "List of eligible vehicles available to download" page. I went ahead and plugged the USB drive with the downloaded files and told the car to Install from it; the car displayed a message saying the USB version matched what was already in the car... did I want to proceed anyway, yes or no. So I'm pretty sure my OTA update included the full map database, not just the wireless AA/CP upgrade.

What Wheeling observed in his post #30 matches my observations.

Your note "...changed to OTA Available 1-15-25 which is when my 3 year subscription runs out." explains my 5-20-2027 date; the owners.genesis.com page confirms that is when my CS expires. Thanks for the explanation.

Yes, Looked at my SW info and did not see the map version listed yesterday. Today, I tried again and realized that I failed to scroll down far enough. I do have the new version. So now I know and can stop spreading doubt.
Thanks

My OTA was taking forever as I haven’t been driving it that much, so I just downloaded it from the website. When I put in the usb and hit the update it started at 80%. 15 minutes later it was successfully installed… included the wireless CarPlay. Works great!

Got my ota update last night. My wife connected her phone and carplay worked perfectly! Today I connected my phone it worked for a while but disconnected when I left the Car and now won’t reconnect?? Any thoughts?

Delete the blue tooth connection on your phone and then reconnect it.

I got my OTA today, worked fine. I deleted the phones and added them back in to get the wireless AA - works great, hurray!!!

Question - AA seems to take up the whole screen now. I like the split screen, so I can have the Sirius XM display over there. Yes I know, I can put the Sirius XM in the main cluster, but I like to see something else there by default. Is there a way to get split screen back so AA leaves the far right quarter for the other items?

Pressing the Maps icon on the left in AA worked for me, and then pressing it again took me back to full screen.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think doing that just switches between full- and split screen within AA. So you can see a map alongside Spotify or whatever other AA app you have available. What I'm trying to do is split the big center display screen between AA and the Genesis mini display (compass, Sirius XM, weather, etc). That seems to have disappeared with this update.

Looks like you're right, so that's disappointing.
Yes, you can get SiriusXM (or other App?) on the right side of AA, but it would be running through your phone, not from the car, and that's not what I want. I'll stick with the Genesis built-in Navi system for now.

Nothing here yet and not sure I want to go the USB route. Getting a little impatient.
