  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Since I purchased my car used, from an out-of-state dealer I have always been concerned about service.
The dealer who is closest to my home uses the Toyota dealer to do their mechanical work. The next closest dealer is 7 miles away but doesn't have the best reputation.

This week, so frustrated by the poor shifting of the transmission, and coupled with the back radio speakers not working, I took the car to this dealer.
The service was excellent! The radio was an easy fix and after applying the necessary updates to the ECU and the TCM the car shifts as smooth as silk. I can't believe it is the same car!

That leaves me with -0- complaints about this great car. When it wasn't right, I thought about trading it. Then I would look at it and think that is the prettiest car I've ever had. Now I just look at it:D.

Glad your car is running as it should be. Did they give you any paperwork as to what they did? I'm bringing my car in for service to have them look at the transmition. I was hoping to give them a little more information other than me just going in and saying, "upgrade my TCM please".

Let me know if you can help in that regard. I think my transmition could used an update or something....

He's got the other transmission, so I'm not sure how much it would help you.

Tombea,

I don't know where you are located, however I always thought that it was only the Hyundai Dealer in Roswell NM that uses the Toyota Dealers Service Department, which is two dealerships down the road. (Honda is between them).

I wonder if Hyundai knows that the Roswell Dealer, as well as your dealer is using the Toyota Dealers Service Department?

I have found that sitting in a dealer waiting room, people tend to walk around and look at the new cars in the showroom and in the lot. Using a Toyota Service Department, all you see are Toyota's, and no Hyundai's. Sure, a dealer will save money, but will they sell Hyundai's?

Wow, I'm thinking that's pretty convenient. Glad you got service from the dealer closer to you. I haven't been to a dealer yet and have just over 10K on the clock after 6+mos of driving. I've got a dealer 50 mi south of me in Myrtle Beach SC and 50 mi north of me in Wilmington NC. I very pleased that I haven't had a need for a dealer so far.

Hi Bob,

I'm located in Suwanee GA, which is a northern suburb of Atlanta. The Hyundai dealer that uses the Toyota dealership is a new dealer and their sales have outpaced their construction.

The dealer that did the work is Rick Case at Gwinnett Place Mall. I was totally pleased with the work that they did.

Ash, the WO only states, "Technician found TSB 09AT014/ 09AT020".
The Service Director test drove the car and he called me on his cell and I talked him through the various problems I had so he could attempt to duplicate them. The only remaining problem I have is that it still will hold the car in gear for awhile before it releases it to coast. If that is all I have I'll live with it.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Tom
