I have the 3.8 AWD Ultimate with 4500 miles on it and the other day I ran over a nail. It punctured the tire on the inside edge of the tread such that it could not be repaired. I tried two different tire shops and neither one would attempt a repair. So I was forced to either buy a new tire or wait to see if I could get the new tires under the recall.
I opted to buy a new tire since most of the dealers have no inventory of the replacement tires. Anyway, I really like the Hankook tires - they are quiet and very smooth and I am happy to keep them for a while longer.
The tire dealer I used has a policy of giving free alignments with a tire purchase even though I only bought one tire. When they did the alignment test, the tech said that my steer ahead setting and the toe on the RR wheel were both out of factory spec and had to be realigned. The tow on the RF wheel was at the borderline. I had not noticed any symptoms of alignment issues either driving or tread wear.
So, as a heads-up, when everyone goes in for their free tires under the recall, insist that Hyundai do a four wheel alignment check on your car.
