  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

about to pull the trigger on a base V8 - want to trade wheels?

I might be the first to go v8 NON-tech. I decided that for the money I would rather have the performance and the base v8 upgrades (over the v6). It's $2K less on the sticker than a tech v6, and you get upgraded everything (minus the technology in the tech package). What it came down to is I don't think it is worth it FOR ME to pay $4K for the tech package. I love all that stuff, but I just don't think it is worth the price. I don't usually get lost (NAV) and I can still plug in my ipod. It seems like a lot of the frustrations people are having are related to issues in the tech package. Also, it should weigh a bit less and therefore perform a bit better than a v8 tech.

At the prices I am seeing, this car is an even better bargain than the competitors!

I'll let you know how I do in the next day or so.............

If I get this one I may want to make an even trade with someone in the DFW area for the v6 18" wheels. I like them better. Then mine would be a serious sleeper!:D

I would get a base V8 over a loaded V6 re better steering, the V8 and othe upgrades. A minor concern is that if you sell the car in a few years some people expect all the options in this type of car.

True. However, I am leasing so I just drop it off in 27 months and get the new supercharged v8 model (i hope).

Better steering???

Better steering???

Posted by Thomas in the CR Review thread:

Larger front rotors and four piston brakes
Stronger anti-roll bars
Independent electric hydrolics pump for the steering
Limited slip rear differential
ZF transmission

Actually, many reviews state that the V8's electro-hydraulic steering has better feel, but the V6 is more eager to change directions due to less weight over the front wheels.

The economics sure make sense, but it's just too much to give up telling your car to switch to "FM, 88.5" !

I too think the tech package is overpriced. There is no excuse for having a GPS that doesn't announce street names.

I think it is almost impossible to put a dollar figures on many things. Some poeple think the better sound system alone is worth the extra cost, maybe you really like to have a powered read sun shade or GPS/Camera. The best is pick what you think is the best value and only you can justify your decison. That is why auto makers offer "options".

i don't think you can honestly justify anything in the genesis. at the end of the day you need 4 tires/1 steering wheel/1 engine/and a heater for those that live in cold climates. nothing more.

everything about the genesis is a want....
