  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had my genesis for a month now and i'm loving it. Only issue is when I turn the car on and leave it in park the AC does not blow cold air. Once I start driving, the cold air starts to kick in. Any idea what this issue might be & what i can do to fix it? 86k miles on the car btw.

Do you typically drive in ECO mode? That's one of the things ECO mode does.

I do usually drive in eco mode, but would it still do this despite the car being in normal mode when I first turn it on? Does the car remember that it’s usually in eco mode?

It doesn't remember the drive mode. Does it eventually come on while you're parked? Both my Genesis and G90 barely blows anything until it can either blow hot air or cold air. For instance, in the winter, it won't blow anything until it's warmed up enough to blow hot air so that the car doesn't blow cold air on you for the next 10 mins. Same in the summer but vice versa... unless I override

Honestly I haven’t sat around for too long but tomorrow I’ll make it a point to do so and hop back on this thread.

I would check to see that the electric fans at the radiator are turning on when A/C selected.

Has the AC ever been serviced? Low refrigerant may not be working well at the lower idle rpm on the compressor.

I cant say, ive only had the car for 3k miles

Most likely low refrigerant. Possibly the fan is dead, but much more likely low refrigerant.

I had that exact issue last summer. Lukewarm air until I started driving.

I was just slightly low on refrigerant.

Low on refrigerant would be my guess - Mine did that when it needed a recharge.

Seems to me back in the days when they banned R12 refrigerant we were informed that with the new refrigerents that the cooling level of our AC units cars wouldn’t be a efficient as previous experienced perticularly at idle…
im sure that fact has been for in the intervening years.

Just had mine fixed, same symptoms, as started out that way at idle A/C wouldn't cool. Eventually it will stop cooling completely. Mine was a Evap drain hose, or something to that effect. About $450 plus recharge at the dealer. Was relieved it wasn't the compressor. Icy cold now.
