  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

AC seat finally fixed! With pictures!

I am gonna try this. Thanks!!
I emailed Hyundai about the pvc pipe to see if they new a dealer that could do it or was aware of it, and they said not to do that and just to have it serviced... right...

I just bought a 2011 Genesis and the cooling in the drivers seat is almost uesless. I very much want to get it fixed. I've read this thread and another thread about the same issue.

There are two separate issues that people have posted:
(1) The cooling in the backrest of the seat is not working well, but the cooling in the bottom of the seat is working fine
(2) The cooling in the entire seat is not working well (this is my issue)

There are three separate fixes that people have reported solved the problems:
(1) Adding PVC pipes to the seat: http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?p=73696#post73696.

(2) Replacing the ‘TED’ units (thermal-electric devices?) in the seat. http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?p=52341#post52341
Note: the person who posted that this solved their problem first had the dealer do the PVC pipe fixed and they reported that it made a noticeable improvement, but still did not fix the problem.

(3) Changing the air filter on the bottom of the seat (part # 885523M010): http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?p=221069#post221069

I’m going to test the air filter fix myself soon because it’s very simple. Can anyone else comment on if they have tried the above fixes and if they worked (and who performed the fix)?

Also, myself and others would like to know if anyone knows how to get the back of the seat off to attempt the PVC fix.

For those of you that are asking how to remove the back of the front seat, this is what the Service Manual says to do.

I tried running my seat without the filter to see if it was the cause of the problem and it had no impact (meaning its not the cause of the problem).

My local dealer quoted me $51.26, for what looks to me like a $5 filter. I have a real problem with paying that much for so little!!

I showed the filter to my wife, and she took it and washed it in Palmolive, and it came out pretty good. It's not a paper filter, and the filter element seemed to take well to washing. And I could notice a difference (better) in the cooling, and how quickly it cooled down.

For those of you that struggle with those stupid d-clips, here are a few more pictures. The tech manual diagram seemed to indicate I should be pressing with downward force to remove the clip. Not the case. If anything, compressing the clip to the right for the right clip, and left direction for the left clip seemed to help. The direction force coupled with just prying the clip (applying force toward your chest if sitting behind the front seat) popped them out for me. Now to see if I can do the pvc pipe work. (Note, from a 2012 5.0, not sure if they changed it in later models).
