AC

[2015Coupe]

Hello all,

I have a 2015 Ultimate (1 month now) and I have an issue with the AC not keeping the cabin cool. I put a thermometer in the register and the best I can get is 70 degrees. I noticed on earlier models there were defective parts to low charging of the systems. I have scheduled it for service and when I asked about a loaner I was disappointed when they told me I would have to come up with my own transportation, rent a car or use the shuttle that is limited to 10 miles around the dealership. (I am 13 miles from it)

This is my only transportation to and from work and I really don't have the time to take it all over creation. Anyone else having AC problems with this model and or loaner car issues?

Please let us know how you make out with the AC issue. I'm not quite sure what could be going wrong. In regards to loaners, most often with Hyundai dealerships - even with the Genesis - there's no loaner. I just bought a Sedan and I do believe my dealership will come pick up the car but they don't leave a loaner. I did bring my Sedan in today for a paint issue and they gave me a new Sonata. I think it may be hit or miss...

It is simply unlikely your AC is faulty. The system just doesn't blow fully cold until it runs for a few minutes, but mainly, the Coupe can be hard to cool down on a hot day because there's lots of glass and a dark, mainly black, interior. Angle your vents upward (because heat rises) and turn the fan on higher. Once it cools down you can back it off, of course.

On this note, I use two of those inexpensive silver reflective panels when parked, one in front, and one across the back seat tops, to reflect back out of the rear window. That makes a huge difference.

Also, if you can hug some shade or be on a highway while the car interior is cooling down, it will get cool much quicker, and try to circulate fresh air through the cabin before trying to cool things down from super high temps.

One last tip for the compressor/belt: Don't turn on the "AC" button until the engine has come back to normal idle after start. Mine can squeal the belt and sound funky if it engages during fast idle.

thanks for the responses, I will be sure to post the results once it has been returned.
I didn't think it was a real big issue until I got stuck in traffic, i know its apples to oranges but I compared it to one of our shop vehicles at idle and its blowing at 40 degrees idling, while I'm roasting at 70 degees idling with moist air. Bigger compressors and evaporator cores.

i have already purchased a sun shade for it and I hope that will help with the temps inside.

Update. Got the vehicle back today.
The compressor was changed to no avail, then checked the operation of the damper doors and were found to be in spec, finally the tech replaced the expansion valve.
The temps at the register were found to be in spec and the car is cooling the cabin like a champ.
