  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

At a traffic signal, when my vehicle is at a stop (but the ignition is running & auto hold is engaged); at green light when I press the accelerator pedal, I occasionally get a “cluck” sound. This is very audible in rainy days or on wet roads during winter. I feel that the sound is coming from the brakes.

I’ve noticed this in my old VW sedan as well. Is this something common for all cars or is this something I should be worried about?

My GV70 is nearing 10,000 Km mark and it’s time for the first service and I hope to ask the dealership about this too. Any info would be much appreciated.

Sounds like it's probably the brake releasing when you hit the gas. I don't really use auto hold but I'll try it and see if I notice anything. I'm at 12,000 KM.

Yeah, agree, sounds like the brakes releasing from the rotors. That happens sometimes, especially after heavy braking (at least that is what I experienced with my Ford F150). If heaving braking, always recommend not coming to a complete stop, but rather let the car inch forward if you have room, until traffic starts moving. The purpose is to not keep the hot pads in contact with the same point on the rotor for an extended period, possibly causing warping or glazing of the pad materials onto the rotor.

Nevertheless, if you can, next time you're out, turn the video on your phone whenever you come to a stop in hopes that you can capture such an event occurring. Then, you can share with the dealer and hopefully mitigate the ole "could not replicate the problem" excuse.

Thank you @luck11 will do that! :)

BTW, I'm glad I'm not the only one racking up the mileage on my new vehicle! ;)

Now if I could just get the dang front bumper fixed from my accident two months ago! The parts are not easy to get...and when they finally came in, they were damaged. :(

Wow, I blew through that in the first week!

Could be the monoblock brakes which maybe normal especially with auto hold on which I think should be turned off

I am taking my car for the first service on Thursday. Hopefully they’ll be able to replicate and fix it.

Ya it's the brakes releasing. I love the auto hold function - but it does clunk occasionally. Wish I could set it so the auto hold is on every time I start the car rather than having to push the button - I'm lazy

My problem only happens on the days the roads are wet. Unfortunately it wasn’t wet on the day of the service, so hopefully once they take my car in for replacing the eLSD, they’ll be able to replicate and fix it.

Interesting, I could swear my auto hold is enabled every time I start the car. Which works for me, because I also love it. I do disable the auto start/stop feature, though. That is on every time I start the car. I personally hate it.
