  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I did this in my truck a few years ago, however there was more information available for the truck.

I have a portable XMP3i player, has anyone with a 2011 Genesis 3.8 (w/ premium & tech pkg) connected their XM car kit directly to the mfg installed xm antenna? I'd need to access the back of the car radio where the xm antenna plugs in.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
the xmp3 unit is bad ass, it's a portable unit that can be used anywhere in the open air, or in a car or house with the docking station. It records up to 10 hours of programming or songs, and you can pause, rewind live programming. I can record tons of songs for free, verse using an iTunes...And I use it for the long drives too work and bring it in my office (I only pay for one subscription).

In order to use it in my car I need to run the car kit antenna to the outside of the car, and use the magnet which tore up my Infiniti paint. \

I promise I don't work for xm, and actually I sold all my shares of their stock last year. :)

XM is nice, the only thing that I would like to see them add is a buffer of 30 seconds or so for when it loses sight of the satellites.

Teddy9,

I also have the XMP3i. I think that you can use the car kit without placing the antenna on top of the roof. You can just place the antenna on the dash board or maybe the rear package shelf. This will stop the scratching of any paint without the need of splicing any wires.

+1. I did a Sirius retrofit on my last car, and I installed the Sirius antenna inside the car on the rear parcel shelf. It worked perfectly, and I used it that way for more than 5 years.

For mine, I removed the parcel shelf trim and put the antenna on the metal decking underneath. Then I reinstalled the trim. It was invisible.

I also had the XMP3i, if fact I had several. It was the best idea that XM had for a product but was so poorly built that I had to replace it several times. Pioneer and then Audiovox tried to make it work and both gave up. Now only the last refurbished models and no accessories are available. I liked it because I could store music and get XM on it and I could bluetooth it into my motorcycle helmet with a small transmitter, play it outdoors with the boombox, and move it to my Ranger and El Camino when I drove them. When it failed the last time XM gave me another type with no mp3 player and told me that the XMP3i would no longer be supported. Again, it was a great idea but poorly executed. If it had worked out I would not have to have 3 XM/Sirius subscriptions.
