  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've noticed something a little odd with my G70 adaptive CC. Let's say you're in the middle lane, with the adaptive cruise set. You come up on a car that's going slower, but the left lane isn't open yet, so you stay behind the slower car. When there's an opening, you signal left and move into the left lane to pass and resume your set speed. Every time I'm in this situation, you can feel the car accelerate a little for just a moment when you signal and start to move left, but then it suddenly slows down for a moment as you're crossing into the other lane, which makes you go "huh?", and then once you're fully in the left lane with nobody ahead, it accelerates again to resume your set speed.
Note that this is all done with no manual intervention of brake or accelerator. Also, I don't use the lane assist, so the fact that I'm crossing the painted line into another lane shouldn't matter (plus I'm using my signal).
Anyone else notice this little drop in speed when using ACC in this scenario?
Otherwise, I've found the system to be flawless.

Not sure of my CC settings right now but I do notice in the same situation the car will take a while to start to resume speed in the open left lane. Not really a big problem I know how to deal with it.

This ^ plus it kinda freaks out if someone is in the left lane, obviously moving faster than you are and you move behind them. It will sometimes brake a bit before it figures out they’re going faster and it resumes accelerating. I’ve learned not to move over until that left lane car is even with the car Im tailing

Key word: "as you are crossing" You have to be fully clear of the car in front or it does not know you will be clear. You know you are OK but the computer does not yet.

Sure, I get that, but the car actually slows down more than it needs to for a moment. I was already going slow enough so as not to close the gap with the car ahead. I would expect it to maintain that speed, then accelerate when it's totally clear, but instead it briefly slows down more.
It's as if the computer wants to see a larger gap between me and the car ahead when we're not lined up than it did when we were both centered in the lane.

Depends on how it "sees" the other car. You'd have to see how the signal is shaped. As you move horizontal it may think it closer and closing.

That may be. That's why I'm wondering if others have noticed it. Adaptive cruise is another feature I've never had before, so I don't have anything to compare it's performance to.

Husky,
If you have more than "one bar" showing in your ACC following distance indicator, you may want to toggle down to one bar when changing lanes. I do this when sitting behind a stopped vehicle w/ACC engaged, otherwise my G70 takes a long time to start and accelerate (long enough for a car to dive into the gap in front of me!).
Enjoy,

I always keep it set to the minimum distance.
