  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Adding an amp to the 14 speaker factory sub - keep your spare tire, too!

So I actually didn't run one. The Alpine MRV250 amp that I used has the remote sensing feature if using the speaker level inputs, so it automatically turns on when it senses a signal coming in. If you get an amp with remote sensing and speaker level inputs, you do not need to run an ACC wire.

CortinaJ, so you have connected it to the high-level input. What are those wiring plugs called and where can I find them for this kind of clean connection?

They are just heat shrink crimp connectors, you can Google it, type it into Amazon, etc...

I added the same amp to my 17 speaker Lexicom. The amp would not turn on remotely so I added the ACC wire. Otherwise, sounds amazing.

Mine turned on remotely perfectly fine, but you had to use speaker level inputs for that feature

So 21 and 22 on the gray connector are sub out on the 14 speaker lexicon???

Whatever the numbers and colors are from my first few comments are the sub out. It's been a long time so I don't remember many details outside of what I wrote out haha

Thanks I now have bass!!! I remote lines to the amp fuse in the back but realizing it doesn’t go off when the car does. Any fixes?

So I just finished installing and tuning a mono amp to the factory subwoofer on my 17 G80 (I know it's a Genesis, but it shares almost everything with the 15-16 so posting it in both places because it could potentially benefit both groups) with the 14 speaker system.

I know there has already been a walkthrough posted on doing this for the 17 speaker system, and there was a lot of confusion with the similarities and differences between the 17 speaker and 14 speaker setups, so I figured I would ask -

Would anyone be interested in a detailed walkthrough on how to do this with the 14 speaker system?View attachment 39528View attachment 39529View attachment 39530View attachment 39531
Very nice posts and info although my 2018 doesnt have a gray connector or the same color wires. Im trying to trace them using a 9 volt but cant find the sub wire pins

Can you post a detailed walk through? Thanks in advance.
Im trying to figure out which are the sub pins, my 2018 has a Black and a white plug, all the black plug pins go to the rear but none seem to be the sub

The service manual I have shows it as pins 4 (-) and 5 (+) on connector A at the amp. Connector A is the first 22 pin connector. I don't have 100% confidence in that as the bootleg copy that I have is not fully complete.

Note: You are at the amp in the trunk, and not at the headunit, correct?

Thanks but that's for the 17 speaker system, I figured it out using a 9 volt battery. On mine the connections are across from each other. They are the second set from the BOTTOM two on the top plug which is black on my car. Green orange stripe (neg) and tan black stripe.
