  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all!
I'm pretty sure this has been covered, but I am interested in either trading in my 2016 to a newer G80 with Collision Warning & Blind Spot Detection. However, before really looking into that, I was wondering if it is possible, or even worth, buying the components & having them installed. Just wondering?

TIA

Oh man, that would be a project. The cost of sensors is just the start as you may have to swap out the computer, program everything, meantime screw up something else.

With enough time and money you could put a man on the moon but I'd just trade up. Won't be long for the 2018's to be coming off lease

I think you’ll need about $5000 in parts and wiring harnesses. I’m pretty sure the collision avoidance requires an entirely different brake controller though, which would bring you close to $7000.

It would be cheaper to buy another car. Literally.

Those two features are available on the 2015 and 2016 models as well depending on trim level, unless the 2018 versions are more advanced, which is likely.

IIRC, the 2018 add the rear cross traffic. It also add the surround camera

2015 has RCTA, but AVM was a 2018 thing for sure. Even though the 2015 “supported” AVM.
