  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I cant figure out how. I got rid of the genesis sedan, I hated it. never will buy another Hyundai again!

Why'd you hate it? What did you get to replace it?

+1 - you seem to be quite dissatisfied: what did you find so displeasing about the car?

After reading all his posts to-date, he apparently purchased a 2012 Genesis V6, and I found this dated Oct 17th, 2011:

my complains:
#1 Lag in the transmission, it thinks for about a split second then goes on my 6cyl 8AT unit. it very annoying and I only had a car for less then 24hrs.

#2 Annoying warnings and useless music when you turn on key on.

#3 Better Navigation, or just instal the original GARMIn and let it do the JOB

#4 Get rid of all the emblems, H, Genesis, just put the Wings in the back, make the car cleaner.

#5 Offer free oil change like the competitors do.

thats sums it up for now

You'd think anybody that easily annoyed would look very closely before pulling the trigger. I wonder what car he would find acceptable.

I recall reading this posting and thinking "man, he must not have been awake during his own test drive and purchase analysis". These are not typical "buyer's regrets" complaints.

Why would anyone make any purchase of the magnitude of a Genesis and not do their homework, test drives and research? This guy is dumb or has money to burn.

I get the impression he's in Quebec, probably also a victim of Hyundai Canada (that we've read so much about here).

That doesn't negate the point(s), but "whatever". Let him go in peace.

YES.. hurry up admin and delete his profile

You can't please all the people all the time. I feel sorry for George. It must really suck to take a financial bath on a brand new car like that.

I have to add that I love my 2012 3.8 Genesis Premium. Quirks and all!

Well I pulled the trigger thinking that I can get use to the annoying lag of the auto transmission, but I did not. I purchased the 2012 genesis Sedan 6cyl. Returned the car the next day. The Display was giving me so many issues I said to myself this is IT.

The Display (Navigation) would not work properly it would not select functions at all sometimes, the highlight would jump from one function to another and sometimes it would highlight 2 functions, I couldn't even select what I wanted.

I purchased a 2012 Acura TL Advanced, everything works, drives well, and no annoying lag.

Yes I am dumb and rich. peace.

The 2012 Acura TL Advanced is a great car. But as an owner of 3 Acuras in a row I can tell you that each developed pretty significant rattles by 4000 miles. Not wishing it on you but just pointing out that there is no car nirvana. And you'll discover irritants like only being able to voice tag 10 numbers in the tech. Can't imagine why you'd even consider a Genny when the Acura ride is so different. Also, don't believe your rich or you'd be at a different price point. Peace.

Glad you're happy with your Acura and you were able to return the Genesis with no problem.

I dunno, I guess I wanted a nice car and I was a sucker for the hype they made around it. If you look around on this forum you will find that Lag, and unstable navigation/display is a consistent problem for genesis.

Oh I agree. The tranny lags. That's why I didn't want to go even a couple of grand more for the R-spec. I haven't had any trouble with Nav other than it's not as easy to use as the Acura which offers a way to search places by name and cat. One thing I can tell you is that the Acura dealership support is excellent. I sincerely hope you don't have the rattle issue but if you do, don't fret; they fixed every rattle. They have very skilled techs. And I've dealt with 3 different service departments.

Ive owned an Accord b4 and it had a few rattles, the dealer had a dedicated person to fix those, and they fixed them once and for all, i would assume Acura has a knowledgeable staff as well.

So far no regrets, just the opposite. I think I made the right choice w/ Acura TL

Navigation is simple to fix. Don't buy the Tech Package and get a top-of-the-line Garmin for a few hundred bucks (with lifetime quarterly map upgrades and traffic). It is not as convenient as having it ready to go without pluging in and putting up on the dash, but I don't use mine that often.

Transmission lag is common on new cars until it learns your driving habits, although there probably are some improvements that can be made to Hyundai's brand new 8-speed tranny. One of the biggest selling factors for me purchasing my 2009 Genesis V6 was the Aisin transmission. Aisin was created by Toyota (they now own about 50% of Aisin) to build RWD automatic transmissions, mostly for Lexus, but also for many other makes. It is a solid and proven design, as is the ZF tranny used previously on the V8's.
