  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Advice? Dealer keeps replacing transmission, but always with problems.

I'm just over 30 days as of this past Saturday but started having issues 8 days after I purchased it.

If you purchased you vehicle from a licensed dealer in New Jersey, you are likely to qualify for lemon law protections (see details in the attachment)

$5,500 for a Hyundai reman is a little steep. List price is $2,880.65. Plus fluids and labor. Most dealers mark stuff up over list price, but it sounds like they marked it up a lot. Labor is not that much on them. We would charge between 5-6 hours labor.

The transmission in the 2012 is a 1 year deal. The 2013 has a different part #, but it is interchangeable to the 2012. What the difference is exactly, I do not know.

Does the 2013 transmission have the supposed fix that the 2012 models transmissions seemed to be plagued with. I mentioned this interchangeability to the mechanic but he said the warranty company won’t approve a different year transmission.

Hard to say without knowing what the exact problem is. This transmission fits the Equus, and the 4.6 and 5.0L Genesis, and I still don't sell very many of them. I'd have to go part by part on each transmission to see where the different is. If it's just a software problem, then that can be programmed into the TCM.

Im on 2nd tranny, 50k miles approx and its slipping like the first did, banging into gear like the first did. Got Hyundai to replace the 1st one for a less than expected price.

Did the computer reflash and made it shift more erratic and failed faster. For some reason driving in the rain makes the symptoms all but disappear. And reappear later with the smell of burning rad fluid. No leaks or anything ever. Suspect thermostat gasket. May or may not be related.

Seeing if head office will do anything for me because the warranty on the tranny expired 3 weeks ago. Talk about timing. Dealer said its head offices' call for anything over $3k.

This is driving me nuts. I still cant believe Hyundai is getting away with this.
