  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I took some before and after pictures and videos of the intake. I didn't take any of the installation, because it was very easy. Anybody with some basic tools and knowledge can install this system in in about an hour. If you're experienced it will take no time at all.

Overall, I'm very happy with it. The sound is very throaty and fairly aggressive. As with most CAIs you don't even notice its installed on the car until you hit about 2200 RPMs. Once you get a little higher in the RPM range you really notice the difference between it and stock. However, the average person wouldn't know anything is modified. I would describe it as understated aggressiveness. I don't hear any faint "whistle" that I've had with other CAIs that I've had on previous cars, which is a little disappointing, but I'm happy with the sound that it does make. I have no other performance mods on the car, just Storm springs and Stance 20" wheels.

I can't really speak to the horsepower gains. I don't have access to a dyno, and I really don't stomp on the gas anymore like I used to. Any gains I think it may be getting are probably more psychological, because it definitely sounds faster...

Couple notes:
1) The spring clamps they tell you to reuse from the OEM 2 way check valve tube are too big, I had to go buy new ones that would give a tighter fit to the after market tube.
2)The body of the intake hits the stabilization bar that goes over top of it. I had to put a piece of high temp foam in between so they didn't rub directly with each other.
3) I couldn't get the 90DEG hose barb to go all the way into the intake. It was very tight after about half the threads were in. It felt like I was going to break it if I tightened it anymore than I did.
4) My intake had a very slight bend/flat spot in the end of the tube where the filter goes on. It wasn't very bad and I didn't even notice it until I went to install the filter, after it was installed on the throttle body. I'm pretty sure it happened before it was powder coated, because the powder coat i still perfect.

I chalk these issues up to this being one of the first ones ever made. I have bought AEM intakes in the past and I have always been happy with their products and customer service. I didn't contact them about any of these issues, because none of them seemed to big to worry about. I have been driving it for a couple days now and have had no problems with sensors or anything that would indicate that there is a problem.

Sounds pretty mean!

Made good on your word on before and after video! Thanks for the pointers on the install too. No one mod will have great impact on performance but in combination of mods will yield a difference.

Hope you don't mind but i was going to post my pics of my install here as well. Got my intake in the mail yesterday. Once i got home i opened and checked to make sure all the parts were there. After reading exaccord's post i used a 12x1.5 tap to make sure that the pieces that you have to screw into the intake would fit ok. There are two pieces, one is small and the other one is bigger. The bigger of the two went in really easy as the smaller one went in but not as far. I had some gold heat reflective tape from a build i did earlier in the year so i used it on the outside of the heat shield. Was going to install it but been having some bad rain here in south florida. Will install it later today after my daughter goes down for a nap. Will post pics of full install.

]If someone can help me I'm not sure how to upload pictures

Just upload to Imgur, then copy either the BB Code or the Linked BB codes that are provided for the images and paste directly into your post - super easy.

Just ordered mine online. Didnt get any rejection. Maybe when they review order on Monday.....

Please, resize those images! imgur has that option under "edit image" ...shouldn't be larger than ~1200xwhatever

I meant to post something in the other thread I posted last week. Will go do that now.

It sounds great inside the vehicle too. Didn't think the iPhone would pick it up though.

Nice looking vehicle!

Thank you sir, I appreciate it.

Love the idea you have for the heat shield. Might have to go pick some of that up. What exactly is it called?
