  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I may be late to this news, but I just received a product update from the sales team at AEM. I haven't been on the forum in a while, I did a quick glance at the front page and didn't see it anywhere. My apologies if this isn't news.

Here is the link to the new product: http://www.aemintakes.com/search/product.aspx?prod=21-796C

The price is $277.99, and they claim a 19 HP gain....

Any insight into this? Im going to order mine right now anyway, but thought maybe the community would have something to say about it.

it certainly looks good under the hood. i think id like it more in a different color though. i wonder if the gains are real. claimed gains are always debatable. i also wonder how itll affect the drivability of the car. im sure there is a MAF sensor involved and they usually dont take lightly to intake modifications

19 HP from an intake sounds awful optimistic. Looking forward to a review though, I'm intrigued.

Per their web site
Horsepower gains based on similar vehicle dynamometer test. Results will vary.
$277 price is too high with out real facts

The fine print states that the horsepower claim is based on "similar" cars; it does not claim to have been tested on the Genny. If it is an oil impregnated filter, I would be very cautious.

Also it says "19 HP @ 5100 RPM" - how often is your car at 5100 RPM, so not a lot of real world benefit in any event? Would need to see gains, if any, at lower RPM's...

Supposedly that filter is oil free. Somebody try this so I can buy it confidently.

I bought it, should arrive in 5-7 business days. Hard to tell when I'll have time to put it in, but when I do I will report what I find.

I have no way of measuring HP, so I won't be able to speak to that. Plus HP gain isn't my main reason for purchasing, otherwise I would've bought the 5.0... I bought it mostly for the sound. I make decent enough money that $300 isn't going to hurt, but it also means that I don't have much free time to install it, so it may be a while.

If you don't have much time and you make decent money....have someone install it for you :)

i wonder where that dyno graph came from. good ole aem intake claims and "fine print". love their parts, especially their electronics, but their claims of gains has always been questionable. just like every other intake manufacturer.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the gains will be negligible. I'm interested just for the look and sound as well.

When you do get time to install it, make sure to take a video or sound clip under hard acceleration 😁

That's a good point, but I always enjoyed installing the last couple CAIs that I got for my previous cars. These days I let most jobs go to the professionals, but Im going to tackle this one, unless I just cant find the time soon enough. Hopefully it comes with instructions...

Will do.

along these lines (engine bay) anyone know where to get the "Genesis" 3.8 engine cover?

I'd love to get this CAI and replace the "H" branded cover

Would probably just be easier and cheaper to pop off the H and stick a Genesis badge on there, no?

I just tried to order this from AEM but was unsuccessful. The intake is still awaiting a CARB number so isn't legal for sale or use in California. I tried to order it online but the system recognized it would be shipping to CA and wouldn't let me proceed. I called them to see if I could buy it at my own risk and they wouldn't take my money. The lady I spoke with said to keep checking back as once it has a CARB number I can buy it. According to her the intake has been out 6 months and it takes the government a while to approve it. She sounded confident that it will eventually have one.

I'll keep checking on it. Sometimes it sucks to live in California. Then again, they hassle you for fog lights and radar detectors in Virginia. They don't really give a damn about those here.

I was just thinking since it didn't have a CARB number can you buy it in California. Thanks for posting this!

Still no love for the 5.0. I know it's mostly for looks, but there is something about opening the hood and seeing the pipes and airfilter vs a big plastic airbox.
