  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone done a k&n or aem short ram intake on their 3.8l genesis sedan? I find this car slow like a cruiser and it needs a shot of performance. Let me know plz

An intake might see a small gain, but no intake will make near enough power on any otherwise stock car to make a noticeable change in performance. It would be mostly for sound.

^^ What he said. Also stick with dry filters

I started with a custom short intake and now how transitioned to a full blown custom CAI with a 10" K&N cone in the passenger wheel well. There's nothing pre-built for the Sedan out there so you have to tap your inner fabricator.

My intake combined with Magnaflow catback, cat deletion and for what it's worth TB and ECV bypasses have made a modest improvement in the power of my V6. That said, the Lambda V6 has got to be close to topping out power wise without going FI. It started life as a 3.3l MPI making around 230 hp in the NF Sonata. So you're talking about a 50% increase in power from boring, GDI and whatever other efficiencies Hyundai's engineers introduced since the 2007 MY.

I have repeated runs (using camera mount on speedo) before these mods of 0-60's in the 5.9-6s range and now I'm in the 5.6-5.7 range - or around 5.5s with using the "1ft-roll out" method. I mention the roll out estimate (on average 2 tenths less than true 0-60) because most magazines/publications that do test drives use this method unless otherwise stated (exception Edmunds). It's a more comparable number if that's your goal.
