  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Aftermarket exhuast vs low end torque?

dmhperformance.com & msa now is fabfoursonline.com still the same company just a new name & web site :)

Thanks!

Yes I got mine from them about a week ago for my rspec 5.0L ( sales@msauthority.com) ask for Martin cost 110.00 shipped . what I'm doing is replacing my cats with the test pipes cutting them and then installing my low-profile oval exhaust cutouts right there and when I'm finished if I want to remove and replace the cats back they'll be no problem. DMH cut outs are by far the best I had bolth ( DMH & QTP) in my hands qtp are really not ovel , plus DMH 4 year warentee. I did 2 weeks of research save your time . Just go with the test pipe & cut outs.

So are the DMH cutouts necessary for the M&S cat delete?

I am not worried about resonance from removing the cats - the exhaust will be tuned to remove any unwanted drone. I have yet to crawl under the car and have not done any exhaust work previously other than cat-back, so I am in unfamiliar territory here.

What were your total costs, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks :D

Okay you can do just the cat delete test pipes. Why purchase an entire exhaust system when for about half the price or less you can have the best of both worlds your quiet factory exhaust system or at a push of a button you can have no exhaust and have all the sound and power that you need. . Test pipes 110.00 & DMH cut outs 400 with keyless remotes . Labor maybe 200.00 so for 700.00 you got it all . And in the future if you ever go to sell the car remove the test pipe along with the cat & reinstall your regular cats because there's no cutting is far as the rest of the exhaust system and sell them online on eBay and recoup some of your money so your overall cost might be somewhere around two or $300

I am looking for a different sound that what the essentially straight pipe cutout would provide. The cat delete is great, and I am moving forward with that today.

I have a 'hook up' for a mandrel bent fully tuned system for less than you quoted for the purchase price of the cutouts. This includes installation. :D

I will keep the stock system in the garage for when the time comes to get rid of the car. Going this route allows me to have the sound I want and tune the drone out completely. If I really want to blow someone's doors off, I can add the cutouts later. Going for the aftermarket M5 sound. Mean and aggressive when I want it, but 'fairly' tame when cruising.

For what I am planning for this car, I want an aggressive sound through acceleration, but no drone during cruising. Not to say that I want it to be whisper quiet. This V8 should have some sound under load. I just want to manage it properly, which is where the tuning comes in. I cannot explain the process, but it essentially is the addition of piping by calculating the rpm of the drone with other numbers. Not my thing; don't understand the particulars, just the end result. LOL.

I hope you know your. " hook up " well because if it sounds to good to be true it usually is. Best of luck :)

I hear ya! It's my cuz, so I'm good. As soon as I get my rear lip/valance installed I will update. Still a few months out...

Very nice! Is that the Sequence spoiler? I just got mine in...taking it to the shop to get painted this afternoon.

Not sure I got it from our parts department and the parts manager called it a lip spoiler. I can find out if you need to know the name of the company who made it for us and painted it

No, but thanks. I have mine already...looks very similar to yours. Like I said, taking it to the shop to get painted today. Can't wait.

I agree it changes the whole look of the car and makes it look like a super car from behind

I agree. A spoiler is definitely needed; rear of the car seems to fall off without it
