  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Aftermarket remote starter?

Has anyone tried leaving the key in the car when you open a passenger door first? I regularly put my suit jacket in the rear right side before moving to the drivers seat after work. If I take a little too long getting my phone out of the jacket or something, the car shuts off (obviously). Would it stay on if I leave my key in the jacket pocket?

I suppose I have something new to test today

I had similar situation. I'd help my wife in the car and it would stop before I could get around to my side. When alone, I do know as soon as I get in and sit down the seat and steering wheel come into place. What I never checked though, do you have to hit the brake pedal for it to remain running? Once you do that, the remote is disengaged and you can get out with key fob.

We'll find out today. Its supposed to rain in California today *gasp*

It is. Genesis considers it a safety feature in the event someone is trying to steal the car. Here in Canada we have something called snow. We need to have the car warming up while brushing off the snow. Can't do that if the car shuts off. Silly.

Regardless of whether you use the app or a fob, the car will shut off after a predetermined amount of time. Similar to EdP I leave a snow brush on my porch, brush off the driver's door, get in and push the brake, which disables the timer and then finish brushing off the car. This has the added benefit of allowing me to turn on the seat heaters and have them warming up while I'm outside brushing. Easy peasy.

I tried it one time, worked great. Though I think that @TO Genesis has a better idea, open driver's door, turn on heated seats, touch the brake pedal, close the doors then wipe off the snow.
