Ahhhhh, a new windshield

Finally sprung for a new windshield, since my ded was too high to take care of it. Glass is part of Comp. Got it through USAA's deal with Safelite, $515. I had other quotes, and those largely ranged from the high $500.00's (1 quote). three in the $800's, one in the $900's, and one $1400.00 plus!

Nice to have clear glass again.

There's nothing like a new windshield!!! Windshields are free in MA if they are broken. Well not free, but part of the insurance you pay each month with no deductible.

So is the Safelite the mfgr of the OEM windshield? Did you notice any differences in noise, etc? Do you have the tech package? If so, do the rain-sensing wipers still work?

I need to replace mine as well..

Make sure you got the same spec windshield as the OEM one.
OEM is acoustically laminated and probably has some other feature too.

On the highway on the way home from work...then I saw it coming! A rock flung up from a car some 60 feet ahead. Seemed like forever before the impact- WHACK! It hit very low on the windshield, luckily didn't skip across the hood. Nice golfball sized spider crack.

For those who have theirs replaced, was it done in a tidy way- all cowlings and such buttoned up nice? I have had horrors, one car- they couldn't remove the windshield due to extra strong glue and the scraper did more damage to the roof line than the cost of 2 windscreens. Was it Hyundai glass or aftermarket?

Of course spent the weekend detaining the car- Invisible Glassed all the windows, and RAINXed the exteriors. Of course!

My replace went well, courteous and the glass seems the same as before. I don't believe it is OEM, but it seems to have all the characteristics of OEM.

FYI and off-topic, on the subject of RainX, I love the stuff. You can also get RainX windshield wiper fluid, which has the same effect.

I've been using Aquapel for some time with good results, but my latest application (the first on my Genesis) turned out streaky and hard to polish out. I'm still working on it...
