If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Air Conditioner issues with 2022 Genesis G70

The fact that you have your sister's car to compare it to is huge. How big of a temperature difference is it between yours and your sister's car? I think if you could document that two models of the same car, parked in the same area and same direction had large temperature differences, you could have a case, if not convincing enough for the dealer, at least convincing enough for a lemon law attorney.
The service manager rode with me and admitted that it didn’t seem right. We drove another G70 they had on the lot to compare it to. However, once they involved an engineer, the engineer said to not fix it because they can have a variance of up to 7 degrees. It would have required to removed the dash and they said if I wanted to pursue that, it wouldn’t be covered under warranty. I thought about trying another dealership but at this point not sure if it is worth the hassle. I have another issue they can’t fix. It has been in service probably 7 times. Although at least with this issue, they are still trying to fix it. I probably won’t be buying another G70.

They told me they are not going to fix it and that is it working with the allowable specs.
Any other dealers near by? Sounds like BS to me. I had plenty of cars with climate control, set the temperature and it does the job rather well. Yours should too.

Agreed

Did you use an Infrared Thermometer to show that the temperature was too high? My issue is intermittent, so I'm afraid I'll need video evidence before the dealer will believe me.

Yes and I had a video that I showed them. The service manager also experienced it. He was in the car with me so I could show him.

Infrared thermometers don't measure air temperature at all. It will measure the temperature of the louvers you are pointing it at, which will be similar to the air temperature if it has been going long enough. It's better to use something like this:

You can get one at most auto parts stores or Amazon for less then $10.

Thanks everyone. I want to make sure I have evidence before I make an appointment. I love the car, but it's pretty frustrating to deal with AC issues on a brand new card. Especially since I sold my old car because the compressor was showing signs it was nearing its end.

I just have to put it all the way on low and just regulate the fan instead of using auto.
That's the way I always use A/C, regulating the fan manually... BUT I leave the temperature at 70 on most cars. So I'd probably have the same issue as you? My incoming car has VIN xxx103736. What is yours? But apparently don't think Genesis is fixing anything, since they don't think there's a problem. But if car started doing that after 6K miles, then something went wrong. At any rate, if that happened to me, and just lowering the temperature solves it (with manual fan), I wouldn't let a dealer rip my brand new car apart just for that either. But hey, which is your other issue? Thx.

The manager had both when we were testing it.

The air conditioner has been an issue from day one. The other issue is the front sonar sensor will go off when it is cold and there is nothing by it. They have replaced all the sensors in the front, the module that connects and controls the sensors, and the front bumper wiring harness. Even with all that being replaced, it still goes off when it is below freezing. I have given up on fixing it until winter since it doesn’t do it right now since it is warm now.

My front sensor goes off occasionally for no reason when stopped, in all kinds of weather. It's a bit annoying, but hasn't gotten bad enough to take to the dealer.
Your AC problem sounds ridiculous and unacceptable. Good luck.

Hi all. I am seeing notes here from yesterday, so it makes it pretty clear that since September the issue was not resolved. I picked up a brand new 2022 G70 3.3T Sport AWD, this past March 1st and yesterday it was hot in my part of the world, 28 degrees celsius, and I couldn't get the AC the cool the interior.... I'm within the 3 months period, consumer protection here I come. I'm going to be retruning this car right the fudge now. And they claim this is suppose to be par with the Audi S4, BMW M340i, Acura TSX Type S, yeah right !!!! Doubt any of these brands would deliver a brand new car with a dysfunctional cooling system and if so, not fix it! what????

Hi there, I am actually running into the same issue now with my 2022 G70. The dealer has tried to fix it the first time around but the issue continued. Now the car has been at the dealer for 2 weeks and they are telling me they cannot duplicate the issue that if I would like I could test drive with the tech in order to duplicate the issue. If not there is nothing they could do.

The air conditioner has been an issue from day one.
That's good to hear, since it's 100F here already. Will test-drive the car before paying anything, and if the A/C issue is there, I might refuse delivery. Really hope that's not the case though. Was told today the car could arrive May 17, or 5 days after that at the most. The good news is this is only a problem on a few cars, correct? But with my luck, I wouldn't doubt I'd join your boat if the issue doesn't rear its ugly head during the test-drive. Ha ha. We'll see.

So it seems you used A/C for the first time yesterday, correct? Meaning the issue was there since day 1 as well. But in your case, no cold air at all, right? That might be a different issue though... although you could have both. Hopefully it's not a punctured condenser, which wouldn't be the fault of the car, and not covered under warranty. Happens where I live all the time (road debris). If not, then a leak somewhere. But seems like blaming Genesis is a bit premature; wait to know the cause of your issue. And even if it's the car, it should be an easy problem to fix, compared to a bad engine, which is exactly what I got with both my ex-BMW M3 V8, and Audi S6 V8TT. Genesis is way above both in reliability, and warranty is way better too. But unfortunately, there's no perfect car, and not a perfectly reliable one either.

Pretty much anytime I stop and it is cold out, it does this.

I had two other Genesis G70s that didn’t have this issue. I would make sure you drive it for a good 20 minutes or so and if you don’t see the problem than you should be good. I can’t get it fixed probably because not very many have this issue.

Thank you. My usual test route takes less than that, but will extend it this time, to at least something closer to that. Ha ha. And will also turn on the parking sensors, to make sure it doesn't have that issue right off the bat as well. With no blockages, like big bugs (or bug juice) over the sensor, sounds like a bad one to me, especially if always the same. The good news is you can shut them off with the button, and only turn them on when needed. So in that particular situation, I probably wouldn't refuse delivery, not do anything about it, now knowing it's a hard to fix issue. But I'd be way more annoyed with the A/C issue, since it's 100+ here for months, and have to use A/C for at least 2/3s of the year.

Hey guys, on the cooling subject, how good is the seat ventilation on the G70? Hopefully close to my Palisade, which is the best by far I've ever had. The Santa Fe is not anywhere as good, unfortunately. Not a deal breaker either, but hope the G70 is at least between the 2. Could not test one before, hence my question. Thank you.

I have a Palisade as well and I think it is as good or better than the Palisade.

Awesome. Thank you. The Santa Fe Calligraphy seats are not anywhere as good as our Pali Calligraphy, at least the one we drove. Hope our actual one is better, since seats are black. But glad to learn the car is going to be great in that regard.

did anyone try to unplug connector from pressure sensor?
I couldnt figure it out
