  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a strange issue with my '12 Sedan - Usually, the air conditioner works fine, it blows hard and cold. Usually I just leave the 'auto' setting on and never worry about it. However, on the very hottest days (i.e. 30c/90F+, sunny and humid), I find that the a/c doesn't come on. The fan will blow at max, but only hot air. Eventually, it will kick in after a few minutes. I switch between the auto and a/c switches, but don't know if that actually helps. This weekend, I waited for close to 10 minutes before giving up and taking our other vehicle. Has anyone seen this?

Could be a few things. If the system is low on pressure the compressor will not go on. It could also be a pressure switch. Could also be sensors in the climate control system.

Given the age, the AC system can have a variety of problems. Out of warranty, I'd pass on the dealer and find a reputable Auto AC shop.

I have a 13 Genesis and my AC is fine when driving but if I am sitting at a light or idle very long, the air is not very cold. And I keep it on Low/re circulation all the time
pretty disappointing as our othe rvehicle - 2007 Tahoe will freeze you out sitting all day in 100 degree heat. Hopefully I can get my Genesis back to blowing cold soon.
This car is great to DRIVE but has really become a pain in the arse to maintain

RPM is a factor in the compressor output, of course. Have you tried using "fresh air" setting?

I see many guys here recirc the air but I never do and I never see the lack of cooling either. No idea if they are related, but I prefer fresh air over recirculated farts or garlic breath.

It seems to come on eventually when I start driving (usually leaving work). The other day I was just sitting in the driveway, so that RPM may be part of it.

See if your rear vents are set to heat.

Thanks for the follow up. The rear vents are set to cool. I will try switch off recirculating air on the next really hot day to see if that helps. Certainly the outside air is going to be cooler than the cabin air after a day in the sun...
