  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I changed the gross ass probably original cabin filter and the AC blows decently at first. After about 30 min or so of driving, or if the car heats up from the sun, the AC out of the drivers vents and passengers vents seems weak and sometimes different temperatures. I have noticed when it is weak that one side is noticeably cooler then the other. Sometimes they switch sides (passenger cooler the driver and vice versa). Another thing to note; if its blowing weak and I turn the fan speed up; the fan speed increases but the airflow does not and it sounds restricted. It also does not matter the vent setting; floor, face defrost, I see no change in flow. If I turn off the car, let it cool, it blows nice and hard. Anyone have any experience with the blend doors not working properly or the auto AC system screwing up? I have a warranty but I know if I tell them something generic like AC doesn't work they will come back with "can't replicate" or its "normal."

Maybe some other ideas to try so I can articulate it to the dealer when I take it in.

Did you double check the air flow direction on the filter? It may be that its backwards.

Air flows down into the blower according to my research.

I believe you are correct.

Did you have this issues before changing the filter? If not, you may want to remove the filter (or replace it) and see if you still have the issue.

I drove around for two days without it before putting the new filter in it. Even with the filter removed it seems to still sounds off after being used for a while.

Do you have the same issues with the ac on "auto" ?

Also, is the "sync" temp on?

So if i turn off auto and turn the fans on high the airflow is restored...weird

I wonder if the sensors that control the AUTO are blocked, covered or something and sending false information.

It is normal for the fan to slow down once a given temperature is reached. In the sun, it is common for the top vents to increase a bit at times. What is strange is that one side would differ unless the temperatures are set different.

Did you just buy this car? If so, the detailer may have sloshed some cleaner on a sensor. Mot sure of the location of the sensors though. Maybe someone else can help.

Yeah I just bought it. It didn't come from a Hyundai dealer. It just seems weird it works fine when you first start the car then you have the issue. Like the other member suggested I turned AUTO off and the flow was restored. I have the warranty. I just have to find the time to take it and hope they know how to troubleshoot it. Maybe someone will chime in.

My '15 blows hot air occasionally, not sure why. Also, it sometimes blows hot air when using the recirculate button. Sometimes not. Par for the course with this car I'm afraid. Lots of issues.

Well that is not good. Have you ever tried to get it fixed?

Obviously the damper doors are not in the correct position. They have to figure out if the door is sticking, the controller is sticking, or it is not getting a signal.

Not yet. I have so many issues with this car that I usually wait for a few months or more until I get a list of things worthy of making the dreaded trip to the dealership. Plus, I have to choose my battles.

Usually when you have this kind of problem, you need to go to service and to change filters. I have a friend, he told me that the A/C in his car is very bad because it is blowing very weak. So I went to his car and turned it on, I felt the smell of the dust and I understood that he has no idea that he needs to visit service in order to keep his car in a good condition. He is lucky I'm an expert in A/C because I can always repair his air conditioning system everywhere he has it.

It was fixed. Took it in and a line seal broke. Fixed under warranty.

Currently having the exact issue you were having and found myself here, thanks for giving an update once you had it figured out!!

Would love to hear an update from anyone about how this gets resolved.

My 2018 G80 sport suddenly has almost no air flow after 45 minutes or so of driving...sometime just some foggy condensate thru the vents...like the condensor, perhaps, is frozen? Seem like a damper door suddenly shuts but it will today be 5 days at the dealer (with no loaner). Brought it into service writer with it happening but doesn't seem like it can be replicated in the shop. In real world, problem is gone if car sits a few hours and then re-occurs after a 45 minute drive.

It's freezing up due to a bad evaporator temperature sensor. See this thread: AC Issues in Rain

I would try disconnecting your negative battery cable off the battery in the trunk for about 15 minutes and the reconnect the cable to reset the system. Hopefully a hard reset will set things right. Newer cars are like mobile computer networks with the various modules and sometimes doing a hard reset cures some module glitches.

It is not sure fix to the problem, but a easy cheap attempt that may work without throwing parts at it.
