  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai had my car for over 2 weeks, replaced the window seal,
then the door seal, then during a status call, told me the window
still leaked, they later called and said they needed to have the
window re-tinted because they nicked the tinting yet I believe they
changed the window glass as well. Today they called me and said
their service manager drove the car and said it was fixed without
any further explanation of what they did.

The driver's window still leaks and they told me today to bring it back
on Monday to speak to their service manager.

Even with the leak it's better than the Sonata

has anyone checked to make sure all door inspection/access plugs are in place and sealed. One may be missing or not all the way in place and air is allowed to enter the hole.

no idea what they did but I know they were in contact with the Hyundai engineers

I had a somewhat similar problem, not a whistling noise, but too much noise from oncoming traffic compared to other cars I've owned. Tapping the window switch didn't really help. I put a boom box in the garage and, with the windows rolled up and a stethoscope from a blood pressure monitor, I was able to find where the leek was. It was from where the rear of the door panel meets the window and I was able to fix it with a plastic shim to keep the door panel tight against the window. If you can find out exactly where the leek is it will be easier to keep their feet to the fire till they fix it.

Had an air leak in the area of the right rear door/window area. Took it back to the dealer where the service manager went for a ride and said it was coming from the door weather seal. They installed a new door seal and when I got it back it was still leaking. I wanted to identify where the leak was coming from before taking it back a 2nd time so got a tube of lip stick and ran it all around the seal. I opened and closed the door several times and inspected the contact area. There was positive contact all the way around, ruling out the door seal. Next, I taped the window with masking tape on the outside. Took it for a ride with my wife driving and did not hear any leakage. Started to remove 6 inches of tape at a time until I could start hearing the leak again.

I returned to the dealer (2nd time for the same issue) and was able to point out exactly where this leak was coming from. They've now had the car for a week and called today to let me know they have it fixed. I'm hoping it is really fixed this time. I love the car and dread the idea of having to invoke the Florida Lemon Law if I have to take it back a 3rd time only to discover they can't fix it. Will keep you all posted of the outcome.

Great idea, good ole American ingenuity at it's finest!

My air leak only occurs in cooler weather. With our record hot summer (76 days over 100). I have not heard it for months. It will probably come back about October.

When I raise the driver's window fully in cooler weather, I can see the plastic molding at the top of the window twist upward slightly. If I bump the switch until the molding is back in its original place, the leak stops.

Air leak is no more. They changed out the window seals and adjusted the window so it is square in the window channel. Not sure which of the these actions fixed it but I suspect it was the latter.
