  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I swapped out the air suspension to Strutmasters (SM for short) about 3 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. The customer service and technical support at SM was fantastic, parts were shipped overnight. The Light Module was missing from the package (it had been ripped open), SM sent a new light module overnight. I called and contacted a lot to the Technical support and they were great.
I had the Light Module installed and although it did away with the warning light on the dash, it also did away with the Sport Mode. I reconfigured the Light Module and took it out, resoldered the wires and reinstalled it back to the original state. I got the "Sport Mode" back but the orange light stays on dash. I just put a small piece of matt electrical tape over it, and you cannot see it or the electrical tape, its barely visible and I don't care.
My install was done by Alexandria Car Clinic, in Alexandria, Virginia, Zack (the owner, Tel 571 247 6874)who were very, very good.
The have done quite a few SM Conversions and had just completed a MB S550 Conversion the day before mine.
The car now handles like a German Sports Sedan, its got the right amount of firmness, feels way more planted and the shocks and springs are of high quality. The shock's are actually Bilstein.
Most importantly for me, is that the steering is much better, as the car tracks much better than before and is more pointed, better feedback and has less vague.

How much did it cost overall?

I wish I had this experience....I converted mine about a year ago and its been terrible. I had mine installed by a suspension place in Smithfield, VA. Car rides lower and the suspension is so soft. The light module was installed but I still have the orange light and no drive modes :( The car bottoms out going over speed bumps at 5 mph! I'm actually going to put the air suspension back! I doubt its the product and I'm sure its the shop who installed it.

How'd you get Bilsteins?! I'd kill for those. SM sent me their own strut/springs.

Maybe I should drive up to Alexandria Car Clinic and have them look over it

If I were u, I would call the Tech line at SM and explain. I think they probably left out a spacer. My car goes over speed bumps everyday at more than 10 mph and does not bottom out. I have never been so happy with this conversion. SM supplies Bilstein but paints them SM Red Color, ask Tech about that. I uninstalled the light module, but the orange light is on the dash, HOWEVER, 'not a problem, because I out a small piece of insulation tape over the light on the dash, I don't see the light and it does not bother me that I used tape. Its not noticeable.
I would ask SM can they recommend a very good installer near you OR ask them, can you take the car to SM in NC and ask them to look at it. They used to install until COVID came along
