  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 3.3 T G70 with only 2000 miles on it makes a whistling noise from the undercarriage. Curiously it is only in the morning and starts after about 10 minutes of driving and is never heard before, even though I'm driving at the same speeds. It does not happen if I rev the engine in neutral. It does seems to be speed dependent.

It sounds like a high-pitched wind whistle .

One crazy idea is that it seems to start on my 4 mile drive to work when I start driving on certain roads. Could it be some kind of air whistle phenomena related to the road surface itself?

Did your neighbor say their cat is missing?

Roads can make noises. Try a different route to works.

Finally figured out my whistling noise. It is the outside rearview mirror. I retracted it while driving in the noise goes away.
I look at the mirror and see no rough edges or imperfections. This noise is very intermittent and probably depends on complicated aerodynamic factors.

How come no one else with a G70 is having this problem?
