  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This is what the dash looked like when I took it back to the Hyundai dealer after they could not get an active code the day before. After picking up the vehicle I had no problem getting the problem to come back and returned to the Hyundai service department. They said they now had an active code, I have no idea what code it was, but they had no idea what was wrong because they have no trained Genesis technicians. I had waited 6 weeks for this appointment and was now told it was a Genesis and not a Hyundai and I could wait over 3 weeks to take to an authorized Genesis service department or leave with them for a few weeks while they try to diagnose the problem. Has anybody seen this problem before and happen to know what the solution was?
Thanks, Paul

Everyone should have a code reader, even a standard one. Not the racing type for ECU modifications. A read and erase is sufficient for most situations of this type.

Find out what your specific code is and let's see what's up.
I reached out to service advisor and asked for code but no response. This is the technicians notes from yesterday: Scanned for codes and found history DTC’s for AT and ESC systems. DTC U0001 CAN BUS OFF and DTC C160E P-CAN BUS OFF. Retrieved live data and found the DTC’s were set 7 miles prior to service. Inspected wiring to TCM and ABS module and found no damage. Inspected wiring harness for any shafing or damage from outside influence and found no damage. Test drove vehicle 8 miles and was unable to duplicate as all light stayed off and vehicle shifted normal as designed. Cleared DTC’s and rescanned. Test drove another 9 miles and re-scanned. No DTC’s found and no lights came on during test drive. Test drove a total of 16 miles I was unable to duplicate the concern. Systems are operating as designed 0P code NTF00RQ0.3

Sorry about posted in the wrong place to start and thanks for any help.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll look into one.

Those (in bold) are the codes being asked about. The recommended simple code reader likely would not have read those codes. You'd need an all system reader to get those.

Here we go again, check the trunk wire harness TSB. Could very well be the shorted wires.

I had a similar problem pop up. A few times over the years, ended after harness replacement.

I believe this may be the problem. Less than 2 years ago the outside trunk latch quit working. The smart trunk, key fob, and inside release all worked just not the outside latch. I was told by the technician back then this was an inherent problem where the wiring went through the trunk.
Two months ago the latch quit working again and about a month after that the other electrical issues popped up. Seems like a logical place to start.

Good luck, seems to be a straightforward repair now with the TSB. FWIW I also had trunk latch/switch stop working, replaced and then did not work again. That was just about the last electrical gremlin before the harness was replaced.

Do you happen to know if that is TSB 2–BE-007H? The dealer has ordered a new trunk latch release switch and I do not believe this is the problem. I’m working with a Hyundai dealer that is not an authorized Genesis service department, whatever that means, and this is turning into a nightmare. Any suggestions on who I could possibly contact to steer the service department in the right direction?

Either service department can work on it. I think you're going to need a dealer level scan tool for this one. Something that can monitor low level voltage changes. It might be a short in the latch or the harness. Hyundai always prescribes the cheapest fix first.

This was my dash when rear wheel speed sensor went out. 2015 Gen 5.0
Yes, and a major difference is that you have the ABS light on, and he does not. While some of the symptoms are similar, this is not the problem that he has.

10-4 Good to know.

I am not sure, but any decent service advisor should be able to swiftly locate the TSB. If not insist to speak to the service manager about it, or find another dealer.
