  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

All your questions about face unlock answered!

A neat video. I'm not surprised by any of it as the camera is IR, so many of the 'challenges' shown wouldn't be a big deal.

How far can you be in order for the face recognition to work?
I am 6 feet tal and Stan straight and it can read my face just ok. Unlike some videos on YouTube , you don’t need to slouch forward. It never failed me. However, the fingerprint reader is a bit more fussy. And can luck out for 1-3-5 minutes if the finger is not put properly on the reader

You might want to try reprogramming your print. I agree the fingerprint reader can take a couple attempts before you're recognized, but I've never had it fail so much that it has timed out.

I haven't really tried to test the range, but when I use it, I stand as I would to normally open the door, so I'm standing a couple feet from the door, and not slouching. The only thing I really do, it make sure I'm looking at the camera.

It's certainly an interesting bit of tech, I don't understand why yet again, the UK and the rest of Europe (I believe) miss out on this.

European customers felling a bit like the relatives that you invite to Christmas, but you don't really want there 😅

now you know what being Canadian compared to American feels like! LOL

After a few days of using face / fingerprint authentication my fingerprint started getting rejected (with increasing timeouts between tries). I've been driving without a key since day one so this isn't something I just set up. At the same time, the touch to open the charging port would also not work and I had to use the key for that as well. Face still works to unlock the car. Anyone else?

I'm gong back to a key until I develop more confidence in this actually working 100% of the time.

So the trick with this one is that it's not actually a touch surface on the charge door - you're actually pushing the charge door into the button that's underneath (the one you use to close the charge door when it's open).

Awesome. Thanks!

I have a 100% success rate on unlocking the door with face recognition but the problem (for me at least) is the fingerprint to start the car. I almost have less than 50% success so far... not sure if it was the placement of my finger or the amount of pressure on the reader that I put on. I almost never just drive the car out without a key...

After trying different things, it seems like it is the lightest of touch/pressure to make it work more consistently. Much different than using fingerprint authentication on my phone or laptop.

I will give it a try next time around and see if this will improve the reading of fingerprint.
