My 4.6 Genny got to 35k miles, and the original Dunlops were getting close to done.
Due to favorable reviews here, I ordered Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus tires from Costco for $990 including tax, installation, and road hazard warranty.
I've put about 300 miles on the tires now, and what a difference!
The Dunlops were very quiet on good pavement, and somewhat loud on worse pavement, but these Turanzas are quiet on all pavements. Ride quality seems a bit smoother too over bumps.

Overall, I feel like I have a new car.
I highly recommend this tire.

I got about 18k on the original Dumflops. I am nearing 42k on my latest set of Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus tires.
 
Hmm sounds like the Serenity may be "The Tire". Can anyone compare the Serenity to the rides of Michelin's Pilot Super Sport or even the Michelin A/S 3?
 
The Bridgestone Serenity Plus were 2nd on my list when I got the set of Pilot Super Sports. After 12k the Michelins need a front-back rotation to even wear but otherwise are just as sticky and just as quiet as the day I bought them. I paid $1070 out the door after a $70 mfr rebate at the local Tire Kingdom after a bit of negotiation. And have seen them for ~$900 recently on Tire Rack.

These two tires aren't really in the same category. The BTSP is a grand touring all season low-rolling-resistance tire and the MPSS is an ultra-high-performance Summer tire that I can confidently say is definitely not low rolling resistance. Load index is a bit higher on the MPSS (101) vs PTSP (97) so the MPSS will hold up a bit better under heavy use/abuse.

the Michelin PSS is a completely different animal compared to the Serenity's. It's like comparing an accord 2.4L to a AMG S65 6.0L Twin turbo V12. Most people would find the Serentity's to be wonderful for them....however, if a person's driving style demands more out out their car and tire, then a stickier tire would suit.
 
Warranty Michelin pilot SS = 30,000
Bridgestone Serenity = 50,000 for W rated

I also agree if performance is your main priority then the Michelin is the better choice. For Highway cruising then the Bridgestone or the new Conti IMO.
 
^ Many summer tires that are Y rated do not have a tread life warranty (such as my Conti DW's) which is pretty much normal for this type of tire, so the Michelin Pilot SS's kind of stand out in that category since they actually have a tread life warranty.

Yes, guy at Costco suggested these Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires to me, sad it would cost ~$800 out of the door. I think I will go with these because my Dunlops are almost done at 18,000 miles and getting on my nerves with noise.

Tirerack has these in both the "V" and "Y" rated for 235/50/18 size. Anyone know if it is better for one over the other? They seem to be both the same besides the top speed (which IMO doesn't matter since hitting that speed in not possible in either case).

I cannot find any other info explaining why to pick one over the other. Does the "V" tire get better gas mileage since it may be less 'sticky'? Will the "Y" wear out quicker if driven the same as the "V"?

All I can say is WOW! They are dead quiet, it feels like car is glued to the road.

All other things being equal, usually a tire with a higher speed rating will have a shorter tread life, but have better handling, braking, etc.

Had my Dunlops replaced at 800 miles. Goodyear gave me a set of Goodyear Assurance and the dumb mgr game me a $60 rebate. Goodyear assurance is a MUCH better tire

As of today I have approx. 44k on the my set of Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus tires. My 2011 Genesis 4.6 w/tech has nearly 106k on the odometer. Last set of the old style serenity tires gave me 45k miles. The Plus is going to last to at least 50+k.

Cool. Thanks. I'm not at the point of deciding on tires, that'll probably come this winter (late) or even into spring. I just like to research LOTS before spending close to $1K on tires. I don't drive nearly as much as you and not sure "touring" tire would best suit my style of driving as I usually take short trips of 300-500 miles (round trip) about twice a year..... soooooo...... from that point on, it's mostly city driving with a few short 50 mile hopes once or twice a month.
But if the price is right and it suits me, then I don't really care what type driving style it was designed.
