Almost no one wants to race my '22 G70, not sure if they are intimidated or assume the car is slow. What about you guys?

Hello ! I've owned my G70 for about 4 months now, and I was REALLY assuming that people would want to race me left and right, I mean heck my previous car was a shitty 2009 base Civic and I would have more people trying to race me when I was driving that lol

I had so many chances to race after a red light with many different sporty cars, I would hear then revving their engine and I would do the same, but they end up not racing me, many times I would drive next to other vehicles and rev the engine but they would just ignore me. I've tried with high end Audis, BMWs Mercedes and American muscle cars but haven't had anyone even try to race me.

The funny thing about all that? Literally all the cars who actually DID race me were only mediocre ricers, I've had old Impalas, Civics and Camry's try to smoke me lol I'm not sure how I feel about that but many of them were very cool about it and would give me the thumps up after I destroy them obviously haha.

What has been your experience with that? I'd love to hear your thoughts !

The G70 engine is so quiet they don't hear you revving it.

I've not had personal experience with that sort of things since about 1970 or so.

The G70 is a sleeper in my opinion. It doesn't look as fast as it is. That, coupled with most people not knowing what it is, you wont get many people trying to race you.

I actually enjoy that. Love the anger people display when they try to prevent you from overtaking them only to realize they cant keep up. I once overtook a mustang from the light cause my lane was ending, it wasn't even close so didn't think much of it. Then I saw him fly by, roll down his window and say something, and try and cut me off at the next light. Made me chuckle.

One of the many reasons I wanted a fast car was because of all those jerks trying to block traffic all the time, this is something that seriously angers me. In my city it is worse than usual, those ***holes are always speed matching the car next to them just to block everyone from passing them, and when you try to find a gap they would immediately speed up and block you with the next car, when I was driving the Civic it was driving me crazy and I did not have enough speed to overtake them. Now it is just a breeze, those people can go to hell.

Funny you should say Civic....as that car and minivans are the ones that I see mostly trying to give me a chase on the highway.

You do run into some idiots but I never felt the need to have a faster car to beat traffic. Not making assumptions about you but you come across as a rather aggressive driver, needed or not.

Sure, there are times, but rare, that pulling ahead and slipping in helps but it is better to read the traffic and make moves as needed. Yesterday a car changed lanes to pass me. This is on a road with two lanes each way, light traffic and in the three miles I was on it, three traffic signals. I watched the guy change lanes five times to get ahead of traffic. I stayed on the right lane and after three miles at my turn off, he was still just along side of me. Five lane changes, zero advantage. There is a difference between aggressive and smart driving and reading the traffic flow.

On the highway there are times a guy in the left lane is impeding traffic and you have to get around him to take advantage of the couple of miles of clear lane ahead. It may happen once or twice in a day when I'd going a 600 or 700 mile day. oh, there are also times I'm in the left and will keep a short distance to keep some idiot from passing on the right if he is going to impede me as we are starting passing a truck. Could that be you I pissed off?

Chess players think a few moves ahead. Drivers would fare better doing the same watching traffic ahead, watching when to merge, the trucks struggling on a hill etc.

Perhaps I came across too unfair, it's not like I've never raced someone on the street, though it has been about twenty years ago now. Age does truly equal wisdom. Now, I race against myself, out in the county with no one around.

I have an idea... You and I can race. Virtually. We have both a 0-60 and quarter mile threads on this forum. Post up your times for both, list your mods, and let's have at it. That reminds me, I need to update to my newest times.
