  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm not yet 80, but I can definitely see it from where I'm standing. I've been riding and driving for more than 60 years and owned at least 45 vehicles in that time. In the Spring of 2024, after reading several glowing Genesis reviews in respected journals, I decided that the time had come to treat myself to one final vehicle. Considering that I might eventually be forced to actually live in it, It had better be a nice one! Not seeing the need for many of the widgets and gadgets on all new cars, and still needing a SUV, I decided on the "base" model GV70. Moving up from a 13 year old Subaru was a startling experience and one with which I'm still not completely comfortable or familiar, but I love this car. Capri Blue over tan was never my first choice, but it was available and I've come to appreciate the elegance of that combination.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us. Congratulations on your Genesis GV70! :) Technology certainly has changed over the past thirteen years. That's for sure... Which features are you most uncomfortable with? I love things like HUD (head up display) and lane keeping assist - as I feel it's an extra pair of eyes on the road in the event I get distracted...

Hi Sal, pretty much every function on my car can be controlled one of 4 ways. To my mind, that's approximately 3 TOO MANY! But to answer your question more directly, there are two issues that I particularly dislike.
1. The tilting mirror feature. I find this frankly dangerous. When I slip into reverse, I lose sight of any traffic or obstacles in my "blind spots" As far as I can gather, this feature cannot be canceled
2. The sat nave system is poor. I cannot understand the prompts from the robotic, artificial female voice and that cannot be changed, unlike with Garmin GPS. Google maps (through Bluetooth) is far better.

Welcome to the group.

1) I, too, dislike the reverse mirror tilt. But you can avoid the mirrors tilting by making sure NEITHER L or R mirror lights are activated on the door controls. They will stay level then. In my owners manual it's on page 5-62...or check the index.

2). You can turn volume up for voice guidance only in your set-up in the navigation menu. May not help but worth a shot!

Happy motoring!

Well thanks for that! Actually on page 5-47 in my book. Just goes to prove the guys motto 'if all else fails, read the damned instructions" One year's frustration fixed.
As for the nav voice. Clarity, not volume is my problem.

I loathe the tilting mirror feature! :o My goodness, I know exactly what you mean...

And such a simple fix if you care to study the owner's manual! Dealership said it couldn't be done!
First thing I did on three cars. It may have value in some cases, but not backing into my garage. Maybe for parallel parking?

Love the feature for backing out of my garage as my driveway has a slight decline and it allows me to see the edge of my driveway instead of my neighbor's house across the street. There are times when it's a pain. That's when I just press the button to turn it off.
