  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My mechanical key works fine to lock my glove box, etc., but will not lock or unlock the driver's door. It fits in the keyhole but will not turn it. I've tried both mechanical keys. Any advice?

Hmmm...

When you use it on the glove box it only inserts about halfway...

When used on the doors or trunk, it inserts fully...Is it possible you are not inserting it fully when trying it in the doors?

You don't mention the trunk...try it there also....Be careful though, if you search around the board, there are some reports of the lock cylinder on the trunk being corroded and hard to turn, don't break off the key....

Well, I feel stupid, but I don't see where I can open
the trunk with the mechanical key. However, after
reading your reply, I inserted the key in the door
and tapped on it gently and it went in another half
inch. Works fine now! Thanks for the quick reply! :-)

Great...glad I could help....

The lock cylinder on the trunk lid is on the left (drivers) side under the lip facing down where the camera and license plate illumination is.
