  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, I'm in love with this car. I've had 4 people already ask me if I drive Bentley! I just got my windows tinted and I feel like a rock star in this bad boy!

Anyways, back to the subject line. I've read up everything on break-in the engine. I've taken it easy on the car and yesterday I got up on it a few times just to feel the power. Today I took it on my first freeway drive and got it up to 80 and pushed the car a bit. I now have 200 miles on the car, 222 to be exact and I'm a little paranoid that I'm pushing the car too hard. :-) What do you guys think? I just parked it and there is that rubber burning smell. I'm guessing the engine is burning off some new stuff but I'm still worried. Should I take it easy until 1,000 miles? I figure with cars now a days, break-in period isn't super crucial.

Thanks in advance for reading my Genesis owning friends!

p.s. did I mention I love this car?

yes you're being paranoid. It's not speed MPH that matters. It's RPM's. Keep it under 4000 RPM's for the first 600 miles.
The burning smell is normal.
You'll treat the car like a rare Faberge egg at first. After it gets dinged, in a parking lot and it will, you'll get over it.

Thanks! I've gotten it past 4,000 a few times, but will take it easy....

Stay thirsty my friend...
