  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Im having problems again with my genesis 4.6 v8 lexicon head unit, before on my past posts it was the blue tooth not working so they finally got around to replacing my head unit with a new one BUT now my head unit flashes the GENESIS & Hyundai symbol on & off & on & off, over & over again, for about 5-10 minutes in which time i cant use my radio, navi, rear camera or for that matter any controls that control my air flow. Then all of a sudden after 5-10 minutes the screen will pop up with the warning sign thats supposed to pop up when you start the car , so has anyone experience this problem or is my Genesis begging me to replace her already ...?

have you taken it to the dealer for this problem yet?

I don't think I've seen that type of error before, but you're not the only one with V8 Tech head unit issues. I'd have the dealership look at it since its under warranty.

Wow, that's bad.
You should definitely take it to a dealer and have them check it out.
It's disappointing that the tech HUs have so many problems.
I wonder how many percentage of units are defective.

I'm beginning to think I'm glad I *didn't* get the Tech Package. Seems to be more problematic than the non-tech bluetooth/14-speaker Lexicon audio system.

I hope for your sake this gets resolved once and for all...keep us posted.

FYI, the 14-speaker system has a systematic flaw where the EQs all fall back to default value(all 0s) everytime you boot up and change the volume.
Now that would piss me off big time.
Either way, I wish Hyundai or Harman International can somehow work out the bugs. :(

I had that happen to me randomly too - Sometimes I would open the door and it would restart on me, other times I would be driving for 1-2 hours and it would always restart in the middle of the trip.

You need a new unit. I had to lobby (which a lux customer shouldn't really be doing) for a NEW, not a refurb, which are in my experience, more prone to failure.

well i made my appointment to turn my baby in on monday ( since i have a jazz show to go to friday night & im surely not driving my 92 nissan max) , but first i called Hyundai dustomer service & opened a case for my problem which is this damn head unit (radio) , when i start the car sometimes the name & hyundai symbol will blink on & off for about 10 minutes before it decides to come on , Now the unit im my genesis is the second one after having a problem with the bluetooth before, if they keep it up they will be placing me in a 2010 or an Equus ( LMAO )

haha tell me about it

i think im up to my 4th head unit now

Turned my baby in today for the head unit , now its a waiting game to see what they find & say

I dropped mine off this morning as well - my POIs/Destination names come up as blanks. On top of about 3 other issues as well...

they had the nerve to call me this afternoon & tell me they wouldnt be able to replace my head unit or cover it under the warranty because i have an after market amp & sub connected in the rear. Now im saying to myself , self what does this have to do with the head unit display blinking on & off for awhile before it decides to come on by itself...? this amp & sub has been in my genesis since i brought the car , it was taking out of my benz & transferred to my genesis back in nov of 2008. So of course i had to call Hyundai customer service to have them get on the dealer because i can see they are trying to blame it on anything they can, when they replaced my headunit before because of the bluetooth they tried to blame it on my blackberry storm cell phone until they realized that wasnt the problem! the wires from the sub (output) in the genesis was run to the aftermarket amp (input) & the output of the amp to the sub, Now how in the heck can that cause my headunit display to blink on & off momentary before it decides when it would like to come on ...?

I hate when dumb people say and do dumb things.... like your dealership.
