  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

amazon/Hyundai announced that you can now use echo to do the same functions as the phone app. what are the chances it will be extended to the 2015-16 models? i have both, but my wife has my car out right now, so ill update once shes home if it works.

This does not relate to our cars, but Hyundai, in conjunction with Amazon, just announced, First-to-Market Program Allows Los Angeles-area Customers to Request a Test Drive Through Amazon Prime Now. Of course, it is only for the Elantra and Elantra Eco for the next two weekends.

anyone try this now after the most recent genesis/bluelink app update? im wary to update since it works and i think genesis motors could pull a d1ck move and stop this feature on the 2G models

yes, echo integration works fine. alexa links directly to bluelink account so i'm not sure if the app is even required.

still works for me after the update :) one thing i noticed is you have to be very exact on the wording for it to work, unlike a lot of other skills echo has

It’s funny how things work out. I found the Genesis app service to be expensive, unreliable, and limited to a point. Having to use the cell phone to use it was a also a nuisance for me. I have an Echo and a Tap and thought about how nice it would be to just say what I wanted without having to access my cell phone especially at home. Both the Echo and the Tap work as advertised for me and the Tap is portable so I could even take it on vacation which is a real plus. So they finally made my thoughts a reality. Unfortunately the service has not advanced any so it’s a moog point. It would have been nice if the car had the same coverage that’s going to be on the 2017 with regards to Bluelink but as it stands now it’s not worth it.

I just tried and she didn't recognize my car. How do I link the 2?

If you have an echo and a blue link subscription that allows remote start there is no further linking. However the command is ver specific. Try some like this:

" Alexa tell Genesis to start my Genesis and set temperature at 70 degrees "

Alexa will reply

" in order to remote start your Genesis please tell me your 4 digit pin code"

You will reply " your pin code"

If all goes well Alexa will reply " Request sent"

Now just so you know I am getting about a 50% fail rate with Alexa and remote start.

Anyone know the cadence for requesting Alexa to remote start with defroster on? I've mastered locking, starting, and starting with climate control. Have yet to have a failure but want to figure out defroster before cold weather approaches. I know it can be done on the app so i figure there should be a verbal command too?

set this up the other day. Works pretty good. I love tech stuff and this is pretty cool. I know I'm a nerd, but what the heck.

For 2G cars prior to G80’s and G90’s I’ve found the most effective way to structure a command is “Alexa tell Blue Link to start my gray Genesis” it then will ask for the 4 digit code. Also on cars prior to G80’s and G90’s you will have to link your Amazon echo skill to your Blue link account and I found it more effective if done at the Amazon site.

You can also do this with the latest Amazon Fire TV box. I'm not sure about the Fire TV Stick but I think that will work too. Neato but only useful if you want to start your car while watching TV.

Its very frustrating we do not have Blue Link here in Canada...

I have not been successful at getting this to work. With either the BlueLink skill or the Genesis Skill. Both connect just fine but Alexa won't connect. It's not that big of deal since I can do it from my phone just as fast.
